How to choose your size

Easy to wear and looks great

I made a dark coloured one for an everyday dress and a white poplin version with the pocket removed (I taped the front side pieces together) for a night-dress. No zips needed on mine, quick to make and easy.
Marilyn (verified owner) –
Easy to follow pattern but wasn’t flattering for me.
Marilyn (verified owner) –
User friendly for summer.

I would weare a dress like this everytime i want to feel pretty and fresh!
Sonia (verified owner) –
Sewing instructions were easy to follow and loved the different sized cups

I’ve made 2 Celeste deresses so far, but I won’t stop sewing more once the days are warmer! That’s the perfect dress to put on and run errands or you can easily dress it up with a nice necklace and bangs.
I love the shaping at the waist, no boxy shape for me. The slightly gathred front panel is very cute and is very full-tummy friendly without the preggo look. I love!
Lorna (verified owner) –
I love the pattern. I just wish it was in a larger size as I will have to grade out to a 24.

This was a really nice dress to sew. So pleased with the result. I made a wearable toile in linen viscose. Although Im only 5ft tall I found it easy to adjust. Loved the pockets. The front facing was a little challenging. Ended up using cotton lawn to cut down bulk.A really flattering style.
Annetta (verified owner) –
Love it. Looking forward to making another, perhaps with long or 3/4 length in a more winters fabric.
Nirosha (verified owner) –
Perfect dress. Thank you dear.

I was inspired to sew again by this pattern & I’ve been delighted by the result! The dress is shapely yet relaxed. The pattern instructions were clear, the pieces fitted together well. I think the trickiest bit was the front facing which I decided to handstitch. I didn’t need to add a zip which was a great bonus! I did lengthen the sleeves which have turned out well. I’ll make a few adjustments to the fit next time – I could probably come down a cup size. I may adapt this pattern for a tunic top next time.

I usually have a lot of fitting issues with indie patterns and the Celeste dress is no exception. I made my usual 1) high back, 2) sway back, 3) forward shoulder and 4) gaping front neckline adjustments. This time there was no need to do the full bust adjustment thanks to the different cup sizes. I cut a size 10 B Cup for the front and size 12 for the back to accommodate my broad back. There were more minor tweaks to the waist to fit my tummy. I eliminated the gathers in the front and omitted the pockets. All these adjustments required making a muslin first. As a result, the Celeste dress became my most comfortable and well fitting dress! This pattern will be my sloper for future dresses and tunics.
The most impressive features are the well-drafted sleeve and set-in instructions. The sewing instructions are unlike any other I have seen because the two gathering stitching rows are sewn inside the seam allowance. There is minimal ease, which resulted in a very smooth and professional looking sleeve with absolutely no puckers. I have never seen such a beautifully drafted sleeve in any pattern for woven fabrics.
I used bias binding cut from the dress fabric to finish the neckline because the facing did not work on this dress. The fabric is a medium weight loosely woven 100% cotton that resembled a light canvas so the interfaced facing was a bit too heavy and stiff. There was gaping in the front neckline even after the pattern adjustment, but the bias binding pulled in the excess ever so slightly that it is not noticeable when the dress is worn. The fabric stretches slightly due to the way it was woven so a zipper was not needed.
I highly recommend this pattern. It is very well drafted and all notches and seams match. I plan to make tunics and more dresses later. The pattern can be hacked in so many ways. The possibilities are endless. Thank you for producing a great pattern!

I liked everything about it

A fantastic pattern. The style of dress is very flattering especially the princess seams at the back. I sewed a 12DD and did not need the zip. I used quilting cotton and, although it is a little stiff, I think it works. I can see me making many more of these. Very easy to follow instructions and great support on the facebook group.
Janet (verified owner) –
Beautifully drafted, every marking lined up even with grading sizes. I went exactly by my measurements and got a great fit, which is a rarity. My only adjustment will be to narrow the shoulders slightly on my next make (normal for me).
Rowena (verified owner) –
I made one and am about to make another one. I appeciated being able to print the pattern pages with the lines for my size only.

I had some problems with the bodice facing here; it’s the eternal challenge we sewists have of sewing “blind.” Trying to get the facing edge caught while stitching in the ditch on the other side tended to distort the bodice because of the curved princess seams. Slip-stitching it didn’t totally solve the problem; in the end I just serged the raw edge of the facing and then laid it flat and topstitched from the right side. Other than that, this is a great pattern. I made it twice, once from a chambray and the second from a rayon challis. I did stabilize the seams on the challis.

Superb dress pattern! The Celeste is very flattering and designed for an easy fit.

I’m so glad I made a musin first. I found I could go down a full size with the C Cup option. Your directions are so easy to follow. It sewed up beautifully.

Love this pattern!

Loved the finished dress so much I have cut out a second one. Did the muslin for top, used A, then increased to B. Fit perfectly, didn’t have to put in the zipper. Will send you a picture of finished dress later today. Thankyou for a wonderful pattern

I just finished this dress and it fits perfectly. I’m going to make another one for me and one for my daughter. Itch to stitch is my favorite e-pattern company for the following reasons:
1. They have the best instructions of any other company I have used by far. There are little pictures with each step along with the written instruction step.
2. The patterns are easy to print and to arrange in order when you print at home.
3. The pattern tiles are easy to tape together.
4. they have layers, allowing you to print just the size you need, but you can also print different top and bottom size and they show you how to merge them.
5. You get all sizes when you order a pattern. You can print them all if you want. Some companies only give you one size up and one down from your size.
6. Many of the patterns have variations so you get options to make it your own.,
I will keep trying other companies but I keep going back to itch to stitch.
My only wish is for them to make a few basic wardrobe pieces in petite size. Definitely a hole in the market for this.
Love this company

Perfect summer dress. Loose and breezy but the princess seams give a very nice shape. I omitted the zip. Easy to assemble, with great instructions. Next version will be sleeveless, in linen.

well drafted pattern

I just love this dress and see many more in my wardrobe. There are quite a few steps, but Kennis instructions make it so easy. My next one I will skip the pockets and make it a bit longer as it hits me a bit above the knee.

These are the best “Indie” sewing patterns available!

Very comfy dress and easy to sew with the very clear instructions, as usual.
Merci !

I love the lines of this dress. It is loose-fitting but has the look of something more fitted.

This is a great pattern. I sewed 14 DD, next time I will sew 12 and grade up to 14 at the bust only, as it fits my bust but one size larger at other parts of my body. It is flattering on me as to my family members and colleagues.
