The Uvita Top is a relaxed, dropped-shoulder top that is designed for maximum comfort and style. The minimalist style is a blank canvas that is perfect for showcasing your interesting fabric. You can choose between the long sleeve or three-quarter sleeve, too!

Primary Fabric Two-way or four-way stretch knit fabric with 25% to 50% horizontal stretch. French terry, cotton Lycra jersey and double brush poly are good choices. If using rayon spandex knit, you may need to go down one size or more. Do not use woven fabric.

Other Material

  • 42” (107 cm) of 3/8” or 1/2” (1 cm or 1.25 cm)-wide bias fusible stay tape (or you may cut your own using lightweight woven fusible interfacing on the bias grain)

Fabric Requirements

Most natural fibers shrink in the wash; be sure to have enough fabric. The requirements below assume that the fabric is already pre-shrunk.

    Pleasantly surprised with this pattern – came together more easily than I expected, and the fit was great. I’ve made it twice. For the second version I lowered the front neckline by about an inch, and instead of using a facing, I bound the neckline. I’ve also used the sleeve pattern in combination with another pattern that had a similar armscye but no sleeves. The measurements looked about right, and it fitted like a charm. I will be exploring more Itch to Stitch patterns.

    This is an lovely basic pattern, well drafted and, worthy (in my eyes) of having tweaked it and making it in a cardboard stock that makes this pattern easy to use in over and over again~
    I reserve this for well used patterns only~ Moreover, the 5$ add on pattern extends this pattern for all season.     I made two of these in the first week of having the pattern. I like the PDF option a lot!!! I don’t have to wait and being able to print only the size I want to sew or the two that I need to easily grade the pattern, is wonderful!

    For me the top of the shirt was just a bit too high and bothered my neck quite a bit. I made the largest size (20 I think). I tried to adjust using my super sharp sewing scissors to take it down just a touch and of course had a mishap and cut a lot more than intended. That was my fault not the patterns!!!

    But I do like the pattern for ease of use. The instructions were easy to follow and clearly written.

    The second one I made I didn’t dare try to bring the neck down on!!!! But I hope to return to the pattern in the future and make the adjustment when cutting out the shirt front instead of trying to adjust later :0)

    This was my first experience with your patterns and I have already downloaded two others. This is also my first experience with an independent pattern company. It was a great experience and I am sure to be back for more!!!

    I made a Uvita top for my mom and it turned out really well. I ended up adding a simple stand up 2” collar to the neckline. I also lowered the front neckline a little and added an inch or so to the sides of the neckline. I plan on making one for myself next and adding some French darts.

    The pattern was very easy to assemble. The sizing is good. Of course, I need to tweak the sleeves, (a little too wide). My fabric choice was not the best – but it is a wearable test” muslin”.
    I liked the neckline facing, but was unable to turn it under ( probably operator error) so I just trimmed it after stitching and it looks fine.
    Thank you for the opportunity to try out your patterns. I basically wear simple casual clothing and your top fit the bill.

How to choose your size

  1. Compare your bust circumference (fullest part) to the “Body Measurements” table, choose the size that best fits your bust. If you are between sizes, choose the smaller size if you like your garment more fitted; otherwise, choose the bigger size.
  2. Compare your waist circumference (narrowest part) to the “Body Measurements” table. Choose the size that best fits your waist. If you are between sizes, choose the smaller size if you like your garment more fitted; otherwise, choose the bigger size.
  3. Compare your hip circumference (widest part) to the “Body Measurements” table. Choose the size that fits your hip best. If you are between sizes, choose the smaller size if you like your garment more fitted; otherwise, choose the bigger size.
  4. It’s OK to use different sizes for the bust, waist and hip. The instructions for blending sizes are included in the pattern.
  5. If you are taller or shorter than 5’6” (168 cm), you should consider lengthening or shortening the garment. The instructions for lengthening or shortening are included in the pattern.
