Nottingham Top PDF Sewing Pattern Body and Finished Garment Measurements

Choosing Your Size

  1. Compare your bust circumference (widest part) to the “Body Measurements” table. Choose the size that fits your bust best. If you are between sizes, choose the smaller size.
  2. Compare your waist circumference (narrowest part) to the “Body Measurements” table. Choose the size that fits your waist best. If you are between sizes, choose the smaller size.
  3. Compare your hip circumference (widest part) to the “Body Measurements” table. Choose the size that fits your hip best. If you are in between sizes, choose the smaller size.
  4. It’s OK to use different sizes for the waist and hip. See instructions for details.
  5. If you are taller or shorter than 5’6” (168 cm), you should consider lengthening or shortening the skirt. See instructions for details.

I highly recommend that you check your fit by making a test garment with inexpensive fabric that has similar weight, stretch and drape as your final garment fabric.

Material

Primary Fabric Use a light to medium weight knit fabric with at least 75% vertical and horizontal stretch. Fabric with good drape, such as one with rayon or bamboo content, is ideal. Note that the wrong side of the fabric could peek out below the knot and also in the butterfly sleeve; therefore, use fabric whose wrong side has similar color to the right side.

Other Materials

  • 10” (25 cm) of 3/8” or 1/2” (1 cm or 1.25 cm)-wide straight fusible stay tape (or you may cut your own using lightweight woven fusible interfacing on the straight grain)

Fabric Requirements

Most natural fibers shrink in the wash; be sure to have enough fabric. The requirements below assume that the fabric is already pre-shrunk.
