Hi Ladies (and maybe a couple gentlemen?), how is the weather like at your corner of the world? I was keeping “summer” in mind when I design my next pattern, thinking that most of Itch to Stitch’s customers are in the summer zones right now. After talking to a few of you, I realize that even some of you in the US are having cold spells. The weather these days are so unpredictable. Regardless, I came up with a pattern that I think can be worn for the summer, and even into the fall. Here’s Carey Top. Are you interested in testing the pattern?

Carey Top features:

• Elbow-length drawstring-gathered dolman sleeves
• Contrast shoulder panels
• Round neckline
• High/low shirttail hem

Because Carey Top is loose fitting, it should fit many body types without adjustments.

I envision the top can be worn with shorts in the summer (Angelia Shorts!), and can be worn with skinny cropped pants in the fall. Of course you might have other ideas on how to style this top!

But let me not venture too far from the testing call. Here are some details for the pattern.

Body & Finished Garment Measurements

Note that the bust measurement is not taken into consideration when determining the size. The bust of Carey Top is integrated into the sleeve so it is not a defined area.

Material Requirements

Primary Fabric Use a light-weight woven fabric. Rayon challis, voile, batiste, linen, crepe de chine and batik are great choices. Silky fabric such as satin, georgette and charmeuse can also be used but require more advanced handling.

Contrast Fabric A contrast fabric is used for the shoulder panels. You could use the same fabric as the primary fabric, or use a similar quality light-weight woven fabric. Rayon challis, voile, batiste, linen, crepe de chine and batik are great choices. You could use a semi-transparent fabric to add interest.

Other Materials

• 3.5 yards (320 cm) of purchased 1/4” (0.6 cm) ribbon or twill tape can be used as drawstrings instead of making your own
• A small safety pin

I plan to start testing Friday, July 24th, and would like to receive your modeled photos with the skirt by Sunday, August 2nd . But as always, if there’s any important change to the pattern, we’ll extend testing as needed.

Tester Selection

The chosen testers will be invited to a private Facebook group where we can discuss the pattern, share pictures and discuss revisions. I will send the invite/link to the email that you provide. So please make sure you enter the correct email in the form below.

In return for your time, effort, professionalism, input and participation, upon completion of the testing, you will receive:

• A final copy of the pattern
• Feature you in a blog post that directs traffic to your blog/site/store/Etsy store
