I’ve purchased two of your patterns and have noted that the amount of fabric needed for each is show at 54″ wide. Cotton woven fabric comes in 41″ width where I shop. How are we supposed to figure yardage correctly when we do not have 54″ fabric?

The pattern design is practical and comfortable with the ribbing/elastic waistband. Instructions are clear and concise.

I agree with previous reviewer about thigh room – this pattern does not seem drafted for curvy figures at all. I graded from a 14 at the waist to an 18 at the hip and even added an inch to the back rise, and I still can’t sit in them. The hip is too tight, the thigh is too tight, and the waist is too loose. I was surprised because cargo pants are usually fairly loose-fitting and most of the release announcement pics showed baggy pants on people.

Pattern pieces 12 and 12Z have lines for sizes 4-12 and sizes 16-20. I was starting with size 14, so… I ended up just using the larger size since I graded to a larger one at the hip.

Step 19 was unclear on whether the right fly was supposed to lie flush with the left fly; it just says “lay naturally flat”. Mine laid somewhat naturally flat but not flush with the edge of the fly. I tried to make it flush and then ripped it out because that made it even wonkier down the line.

Step 26 there was not nearly enough room to serge the fly excess off to finish the raw edge while attaching the zipper guard and cutting off the excess fly. I had to finish the zipper guard edge alone, sew it on, and then leave an extra 3/8″ on the fly when I removed the excess instead of being flush with the zipper guard.

Like the styling details, overall reasonable instructions, but I’m going to have to make a ton of adjustments to make this something I can go hiking in unless I never sit down ever.

Sizing on these seems off. If your thighs aren’t super skinny, they are very snug. Far less ease than expected for a relaxed cargo pant.
    But: neat features, good instructions.

These cargo pants are great. Quite a detailed pattern, with a lot of top stitching so it takes a while to make, but with clear instructions easy to follow. Really pleased with the fit as well good sizing.

  11. Agnes Reimets

I am really satisfied with this pattern. I made both options: long and short. Instructions were very clear and easy to follow. The best fly front zipper insertion method I have seen.

  2. Compare your hip circumference (widest part) to the “Body Measurements” table. Choose the size that fits your hip best. If you are between sizes, choose the smaller size if you like your garment more fitted; otherwise, choose the bigger size.
  3. It’s OK to use different sizes for the bust, waist and hip. The instructions for blending sizes are included in the pattern.
  4. If you are taller or shorter than 5’6” (168 cm), you should consider lengthening or shortening the garment. The instructions for lengthening or shortening are included in the pattern.
