No matter which way you look at the Galicia, it is a sweet little woven blouse that can be dressed up or down. From the front, flattering gathers at the front neckline and top of the raglan sleeves add interest and shaping. From the back, the buttoned closure is a detail that’s worth showing off.Β  This semi-fitted style effortlessly bridges the gap between smart and casual.

  1. Kadri

Galicia is a top with a twist – you have buttons on the back. Each time I wear mine someone asks if I put it on the wrong way or do I need a maid to put it on. I take no offence as this design is really unique and I love it!

  2. Wendy

    Didn’t like the neck band

  3. Shannon

Love this blouse. Can’t wait to make it again

  4. Jessie

Great patterns & customer service! I am new to having patterns printed & was having a problem. Even though I think I reviewed all the great hints on the website I still had a problem. I sent Kennis a message & got a very quick reply and resolved the issue immediately. Patterns are so well drafted and such a joy to sew.

  5. Marcia

A delightful top and easy to sew

  6. Anonymous

    Great pattern.

  7. Kathleen

The button down back is part of this patterns charm. Don’t let it though, cause you to turn away from sewing it up. This is in addition to my original review of 5*. For those that do not want to have functioning buttons or are still shy about button holes; this style is very easy fitting and many do not need the back to actually open to get it on and off and if they do it is just the top button. So, you could just overlap the backs and sew the buttons on sewing both layers together resulting in the button down look without the function – faux button band appearance. The other option is to do the same thing putting the button holes on but not cutting the button holes open – look without function opening just the top button if needed.
I hope this helps those sitting on the fence with this pattern, esp. if because of the button band, willing to give it a try. You will be glad you did!

  8. HELEN

I’ve just completed my first version of this lovely top in a tencel lawn. I omitted the buttons as I have a frozen shoulder at the moment but can still get into it quite easily. I really love everything about Itch to Stitch patterns – design, drafting, clarity of instruction and zero fitting adjustments (for me personally)! Fabulous!

  9. Carol

Perfect top for me as I love raglan sleeves

  10. Anonymous

Lovely pattern instructions easy to follow

  11. Lynn

Beautiful pattern! Only wish is for no trim pages to tape together pattern.

  12. Anonymous

Lovely top mixed with old time charm and modern style. Fit is relaxed but not frumpy allowing it to easily be more dressy depending on fabric choice. As always directions are clear, easy to follow; fit is spot on, and style is feminine and a flattering fit for all. A definite wardrobe builder.

  13. Melanie

I LOVE this top. So comfortable and cute!

  14. Nelleke

Such a beautiful design and excellent instructions!

  15. Inna

Another beautiful pattern from my favorite pattern company. Elegant and well fitting, with interesting details. Love my Galicia top!

  16. Elsa

My favorite Galicia’s features is undoutedly the back button band where you can place statement buttons! I had never sewn a woven top with raglan sleeves. It adds quite a nice touch to this top along with the delicate gathers at the front neckline and top of shoulders.

  17. Janet

Easy to put together with clear instructions. Fit is very good and according to measurements. Its great to be able to sew up my size (18 D) with confidence.

  18. Deborah

    Love the blouse β€οΈπŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦

  19. Ann

I have been in a sewing slump lately. I wasn’t sure if this would be another fail. It wasn’t. The directions were great. The pattern fit me well, too. I had to adapt it when my buttonholer stopped working, but it still came out great. I plan to make at least one more.

  20. Carole

This is such a well designed blouse/top. At first I hesitated over the back opening, as I have a prominent rear spinal curve that, in the past, has made for great discomfort when buttons have been the garment’s closure. Your wonderful testers inspired me to get this pattern and adapt the back for a short neck opening. In particular, I like blouse fronts to come up high, as I had chest surgery and mastectomy, resulting in scarring almost up to my collarbone, and i like to keep this scarring covered. So! I’m looking forward to making this blouse soon πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘. Thank you!

  21. Tarra

Love the fit! Quick sew, will be sewing another very soon.

  22. Annette

Received this pattern five days ago and have already made three Galicia tops. This is a great pattern with clear instructions and I am sure it will become a staple iny wardrobe. Thanks itch to stitch x

  23. Pam

A surprisingly easy sew with the well written and detailed instructions. I made the 3/4 sleeve version (would shorten the sleeves by 1.25″ next time – I am short!) with the darts front and back. Very flattering.

  24. Teresa

Absolutely wonderful pattern, especially the FBA done already! Thank you so much.

  25. Angela

Lovely top that looks great with jeans or dressed up with black trousers, great pattern alway fits really well especially with bust cups sizing, will be making a few more for summer, pattern instruction are well thought through which makes sewing itch to stitch patterns a delight to sew.

  26. Jana

The pattern is wonderful. The directions are easy to follow and even my muslin turned out well – sizing is accurate

  27. JACQUELYN

As usual great fit! Clear directions resulting in a super addition to my wardrobe. Thank you

How to choose your size

  1. Determine your cup sizeβ€”subtract the circumference of your over bust from the circumference of the fullest part of your bust. If the rounded difference is 1β€³ (2.5 cm), use A cup; 2β€³ (5 cm), use B cup; 3β€³ (7.5 cm), use C cup; 4β€³ (10 cm), use D cup; 5β€³ (12.5 cm), use DD cup.
  2. After determining the cup size, compare your bust circumference (fullest part) to the β€œBody Measurements” table. Using the corresponding row for your cup, choose the size that best fits your bust. If you are between sizes, choose the smaller size if you like your garment more fitted; otherwise, choose the bigger size.
  3. Compare your waist circumference (narrowest part) to the β€œBody Measurements” table. Choose the size that best fits your waist. If you are between sizes, choose the smaller size if you like your garment more fitted; otherwise, choose the bigger size.
  4. Compare your hip circumference (widest part) to the β€œBody Measurements” table. Choose the size that fits your hip best. If you are between sizes, choose the smaller size if you like your garment more fitted; otherwise, choose the bigger size.
  5. It’s OK to use different sizes for the bust, waist and hip. The instructions for blending sizes are included in the pattern.
  6. If you are taller or shorter than 5’6” (168 cm), you should consider lengthening or shortening the garment. The instructions for lengthening or shortening are included in the pattern.
