The Chemainus is very easy to fit thanks to the dolman style. It’s designed for woven fabric and has a relaxed fit. You can also take advantage of the shoulder insets to do some color blocking (great for scrap busting)!

Can you tell us what size/how much positive ease there is in the tops the testers made? Some look well fitted and some look too large for my taste, and I see the pattern fit recommendations include quite a lot of ease – for example, at an 8B, body bust of 38, the finished garment bust is 53! Should I go down a size?
Hi Jess, the finished garment measurements are included in the pattern too. My recommendation to choose a size in the in “Choose Your Size” section in the instructions. But once you bought the pattern, it’s yours, and you are the designer. Although the design is meant to be relaxed, you should follow what your preference. Have fun and good luck!
Are you limited to the width of your fabric for the sleeves? I have aged, as we all do, and I have beautiful flapping bingo arms. I like to keep my upper arms as covered as possible. :o) Thank you.
I think you can lengthen the sleeve to at least 3/4 length. And you can always color block the rest until it’s a full sleeve.
I’m excited to try my first digital pattern. I usually make an adjustment for rounded back so the front doesn’t ride up, should I make this adjustment or does the pattern forgive this? I couldn’t tell if any of the testers had this issue.
Hi Linda, I am glad to hear that you are trying PDF patterns! As for your back, it’s really hard to say. However, I do have one tester who has a round back that she typically needs adjustment for, but for this style, she didn’t change anything and the Chemainus was great on her. So I’d say go ahead and make it as is with the size that’s based on the “Choose Your Size” instructions.

This is really pretty! Would it be possible to see a photo of someone wearing it with their arms raised overhead? I sometimes have problems with dolman sleeves interfering with motion, and my job is active enough I need to have my arms unrestricted. Thank you!
