I love this style! How easy would it be to make this longer – to turn it into a dress?
Hi Jaine, you could extend the bottom hem of the back (flare it out), and extend the inner layer of the front similarly to make a dress.

I like the very smooth appearance of the front of this top. For example, I cannot see the outline where the crossover occurs, whereas in many, many crossovers, this is highly visible.
Is this smooth appearance due to each half being double-layered, rather than faced?
You are very observant! It is actually kinda faced (it’s not double-layered); it’s a soft fold (not pressed). I think because of the pleats and the drape, you don’t see an impression on the right side.

Hi This may be a silly question but how do you work out how much stretch there is in the fabric?
Hi Valerie! You fold the fabric. Measure 4″ of the fold fabric (4″ is arbitrary; you can use other amount as well) and then stretch it to see how many inches it can get to. Let’s say you can stretch it to 7″, then the math is (7″ – 4″) /4″ = 75%. You do that for vertical and horizontal fold. However, most of the patterns really just talk about horizontal stretch, which usually is more important (so it can get around your body). Vertical stretch can affect the length of the garment.
I was also interested in the difference in how the neckline / drape was across the different testers executions. The depth of the v neck is definitely variable- but so is how the drape falls against the left hand side bust. Some cut it whilst other versions fall below it. Personally I prefer the line falling lower on the bust – how can I make sure this happens if I make up the pattern? Drapery / stretchier/ thinner fabric? Any recommendations on fabric choice Kennis? ( subject of a future post?)
Hi Ann, yes, fabric with more drape will do that. And also how you arrange it while you have it on.
Wonderful! You’ve been putting out awesome patterns faster than I can see them! One question for the brasov, what is making the difference on how high/low the neckline v? Is it all in the drape and weight of the fabric? I just want to make sure that I can select the right fabric to achieve the height I desire or if there is something in the pattern that helps you select it. Thanks again!
Hi Laura! Yes, the drape and the stretch of the fabric are main determinants of how deep the wrap will be. Fabric recovery is also very important. If you are using rayon spandex, you can even go down a size (unless you like the deeper V and drapey look, which is nice too).
I like the style of the top, but as a busty girl, a high neck is unflattering. For the images that show a deeper V. is that due to styling, or because a larger size was made. or some other reason?
Hi Tina, it’s mainly fabric choice. More stretch + more drape = deeper V. And you can also arrange the wrap a little yourself too. That’s what the testers did for their photos.
