New FREE Pattern: Uvita Top
Surprise! I have been cooking up this new pattern as a Hanukkah/Christmas (or any other holiday you celebrate at this time of the year) gift to you! I think a free pattern is a great way to tell you that I value your patronage and support. And if you haven’t tried an Itch to Stitch pattern before, this is a great way to try one out!
As usual, all Itch to Stitch patterns are thoroughly tested; this free pattern is no exception. The Uvita Top is a dropped shoulder, relaxed top that is perfect for showcasing your interesting fabric. And I know that you are especially busy at this time of the year, so this pattern is a quick sew. In fact, because fitting is not finicky as a dropped shoulder, relaxed top, you might be be able to sew several for your friends and family as a holiday gift!
Sarah from Sewing with Sarah graciously lets me use her as the cover girl this time. Her striped Uvita Top is lovely, her photography is awesome and she is a natural model. Don’t you think? Please check out her site or her Instagram for for some gorgeousness (thank you Sarah!)
Uvita Top Features:
- Relaxed fit
- Dropped shoulder
- Wide neckline
- Two sleeve options—long sleeve and three-quarter sleeve
(Yes, it is a free pattern, but it comes in options too!)
These talented, lovely ladies helped me test the pattern. I really love the striped ones; this pattern is perfect for striped fabric, but floral also steals my heart!
Thank you, ladies, for testing this pattern!

Trust me, the Uvita Top pattern will become your workhorse. It’s so easy to make and wear and it will become your go-to pattern. Give it a whirl and let me know!
It’s so nice seeing all the different looks created with this top. And it seems to be a universal top for everyone. Not just because of so many sizes but because every lady pictured looks great in her version.
Thank you for having the pattern I have been looking for. I’ve been trying to find a boatneck neckline with dropped shoulders, not realizing that you had already made the pattern and offered it free. Now I know what I’m going to cut out second. The first will be a long apron, so I can cover my new boatneck while doing dishes. (The only dishwasher here is named Cheryl.)
Just printed out this pattern and can’t wait to make this one.
I only have one question which I can’t find in the description. Is the seam allowance included in the pattern or do I have to draw it along side the pattern?
Thanks for making this pattern available.
Hi Wendy, yes, seam allowances are included. The instructions specify the width of the seam allowance. It is also printed on each pattern pieces.
Downloaded the free pattern last night. thank you very much. looks like a great pattern.
Happy new Year.
Many thanks for your generous offer. The neckline on your Uvita is so beautiful, I decided to take the plunge, even though I much prefer paper patterns. You have several designs that I’m very interested in, and I’m guessing this will the start of a new chapter in my sewing life.
Thanks! 🙂 PDF patterns open many doors and designs. I hope you enjoy your new chapter!
How kind of you. The testers have made a lovely bunch of tops:). And I’m super pleased because the cut reminds me of my newest favourite sweater – a cashmere from grana that I crushed on but was sort of sceptical about because I don’t usually like dropped shoulders – only to find that I loved it on! So pleased that I have a base to make another:).
All my best wishes for Christmas and New Year. May your next year be way better than this one was.
Cashmere would be luxurious! Merry Christmas and happy new year to you too!
How Generous, it looks like a great pattern basic,
Thanks .
Best wishes for a peaceful Christmas and after this year’s difficulties, a happy and prosperous New Year!
Thanks so much for the free pattern! I really enjoy seeing what the testers have made. Gives me lots of good ideas. 🙂
Thank you for the pattern. The testers did an amazing job, got great ideas on the fabrics.
