  1. Kadri

Lovely summer pants pattern. I made mine using crinkle (crepe) viscose and I pull them on whenever it’s too hot outside.

  2. Charlotte

I made Icaria pants and had to lengthen the rise a lot. The pants do not hang well at the back. I used shorter elastic than you said, but 5 rows of stitching stretches it so much they came out too loose round the waist. I think in larger sizes (I am a uk 18), you probably need to reduce the elastic a lot more than for smaller sizes? Your instructions are very clear and well written.

  3. gloria

Super cute and easy to throw together! It looks awesome with the new Santorini top. Wish I’d made it for ME-alas, my daughter now has a new outfit!

  4. Grace

    Great pattern

  5. rina

    very nice pattern

  6. Judi

Kennis, I just love your patterns and your design aesthetic! No matter if you’re 77 or, 15 your designs look great! I’ve been sewing for decades (yes, I’m older . . .) but your patterns are timeless and look fabulous on everyone! And they can be “dressed up” for more formal occasions, or “dressed down” for just goofing around, and they look amazing. I’ve been to weddings in your patterns — and received rave reviews — and sat around on my sofa in more casual models — our dog isn’t a good reviewer!
I would love to become one of your testers. You could see a slim older person in the beautiful backdrop of New Hampshire … I’ve also got a pretty amazing stash of fabulous fabrics. (Is that enticement enough?)
Again, thank you so much for the fabulous patterns you create. They keep me sewing!

  7. Sandra

Really easy to follow and lovely to make up

  8. Janet

Lovely pattern! My first Itch to Stitch made and the paper pattern was so easy to put together. Instructions were very clear and the fit was great! I made as full length (not much length addition as I have short legs!). I also made a standard elastic cased waistband as I anticipate needing to alter and the method described for the pattern would have been difficult to adjust later. The pockets and hips skim and hang beautifully!

  9. David

A lovely garment to sew and to wear, which can be dressed up or down. I’ll be making this pattern again in a heavier weight fabric for the autumn. Not sewn/worn by David btw πŸ˜‚.

  10. Nancy

I really love the pattern. It was easy to sew and it is very comfertebel to ware. I will make it again

  11. Mary M.

As with any pattern, I did tweak it for fit as shown in the tutorial. This will be a very versatile pattern for me. My first project was the Bermudas but it looks more like a split skirt for me – which I like!

  12. karen

Super easy to sew up. Made a size 8, just had to shorten the pattern for my very short stature. Great fit.
Thank you for another fabulous pattern

  13. Phyllis

    Love your patterns.

  14. Sarah

These are the pants dreams are made of – so comfy and can easily be dressed down or up depending on fabric choice and styling. The waistband technique was new to me but I quickly got the hang of it and it’s now my favourite method for elasticated waists! Highly recommend this wardrobe must have!!!

  15. Sharon

    Easy to fit

  16. Margo

Great pattern, just what I was looking for! Had a problem with the waistband, but that was the sewist, not the pattern! Have a second try on my cutting table right now.

  17. Anonymous

Easy download and construction. Good fit.

  18. angie

So easy and yet so stylish.

  19. Linda

A quick, easy sew and they look great!

Material

Primary Fabric Use light to medium weight woven fluid fabric, such as crepe, viscose/rayon twill and Tencel twill.

Other Materials

  • 1 1/2” (4 cm) wide elastic as long as your waist, minus 1” (2.5 cm) (choose a high quality one with strong recovery)
  • 24” (61 cm) of 3/8” (1 cm)-wide straight fusible stay tape (or cut your own using lightweight interfacing)

Most natural fibers shrink in the wash; be sure to have enough fabric. The requirements below assume that the fabric is already pre-shrunk.

How to choose your size

  1. Compare your hip circumference (widest part) to the β€œBody Measurements” table. Choose the size that fits your hip best. If you are between sizes, choose the smaller size if you like your garment more fitted; otherwise, choose the bigger size.

  2. Because this pattern is pull-on style pants, do not use a smaller size at the waist, or you might not be able to pull the pants up past your hip.

  3. If you are taller or shorter than 5’6” (168 cm), you should consider lengthening or shortening the garment. The instructions for lengthening or shortening are included in the pattern.
