Material

Primary Fabric Lightweight four-way stretch knit fabric with at least 50% horizontal stretch and 50% vertical stretch. French terry, cotton Lycra jersey and other cotton blend jersey are good choices. Slightly heavier weight knit can be used in View B only but not in Views A and C because the intersection of the placket and neckband/hood can become too bulky with thicker fabric. You can choose to color block the top by using different fabric for the front, back, sleeves, cuffs, neckband, hood and placket; use similar knit fabric for all these parts.

Interfacing Very lightweight fusible woven or weft insertion interfacing for Views A and C (View B does not require interfacing)

Other Material

  • Four 3/8" (1 cm) buttons for Views A and C

Fabric Requirements

Most natural fibers shrink in the wash; be sure to have enough fabric. The requirements below assume that the fabric is already pre-shrunk.

Great pattern! I was looking for a raglan pattern that didn’t have a wide neck and this one is perfect. I didn’t try the Henley collar yet, but the pattern is very nice and goes together perfectly.

  2. Leigh

Wonderful, accurate patterns with very clear and detailed instructions

  3. paula

Really enjoyed making this in Christmas fabric a lovely top

    What a great pattern!
When I started this, I had just finished making another simple and seemingly straightforward knit top using a pattern from another company. I encountered all sorts of fitting issues, especially with the neck. Although in the end I achieved a nice result, the fitting process was horrible. Never again! That pattern is now in the waste basket!
Then I made the Itch-to-stitch Henley. What a difference. I’ve made many Itch-to-stitch patterns, and I know pretty much what admustments I’m going to need to make. They are all pretty standard and due to my particular figure, not to any sizing issues with Itch-to-stitch. Itch-to-Stitch sizing is always impeccable. So, I picked my usual size and made a few adjustments, and began to sew. Voila! A beautiful top with a neckline that is my definition of perfection. (I made the one without the placket.) I haven’t finished the bottom hem yet. I’m debating whether to recut the hemline and use the bottom band. Either way, this top fits and hangs perfectly. Will use this pattern again and again and again.

  5. Dana

My go-to pattern for work, because I need comfortable tops that move with me. (casual job)

  6. Rhonda

  7. Edith

  8. jan

    Really clear sewing instructions

  9. Rose

Easily downloaded and printed the size I needed.

  10. Jane

I love how versatile this pattern is. I have made two already using leftover fabric from other projects.

  11. Hector

This Visby Henley Top pattern is true to size and very easy directions to follow.

  12. Judy

This is a easy pattern and the Henley is a nice change for, a straight tee shirt. Colour blocking options make this fun to work with. I usually have to make a narrow shoulder adjustment but this fit perfectly.

  13. Michelle

What a great pattern!! Easy to see and it looks great. I’ll definitely make this again.

  14. Joan

    Super comfy top.

  15. Anne

I made two pajama tops with this pattern. I love everything except that the placket goes all the way up to the neck. I made my first one as drafted, but the second one, I brought the neck ribbing over the placket – curved down to the placket edge. I preferred this method of construction. Otherwise, the pattern was perfect and I will be making lots more Visby Henleys! The fit was perfect.

  16. Rose

I love these patterns. I only started sewing a few years ago, but these patterns are so well drafted with very clear instructions that they make me look like a veteran.

  17. Joan

    Great pattern

  18. Julie

    Great fit!

  19. Anonymous

    Great

  20. Beatrix

I sew it and I like it

  21. itzdiane

I like all the different options for this top. With different necklines, a hood, and a curved hem or band, you can mix and match so many different ways. Kennis is always thorough with directions so the placket is the best by far! This is one of those patterns I’ll be able to sew again and again since it’s comfortable everyday wear.

  22. friedmanrn

Love this! The design is flattering and the fit is perfect. I love how the measurements match the size that you are sewing. Will be sewing a lot more of these!

  23. Leanne Miller

I love this raglan, there are lots of options. Easy to understand instructions with great techniques. Stylish cuffs gives another option for different looks and the cuffs give a nice fitted style. I was able to make a suncover in spandex with no changes to the pattern at all, a real win for me, have been waiting for the perfect pattern and this is it.
