Love it. Used it to make a pyjama top as I already had a pattern for pants.

Yet another great pattern — I completed the Mindelo top in under two days! The construction was smooth and enjoyable, and I made a small but impactful alteration: I added a ruffle to the neckline. This was easy to do since the pattern already includes a facing, which made it simple to sandwich the ruffle in neatly.

The highlight of this pattern is absolutely the back darts — they’re beautifully drafted and incredibly flattering. It’s clear the designer paid attention to shaping, which gives the top a clean and elegant silhouette from behind.

My only (minor) gripe? The sample garment shown in the instructions uses a very busy print, which unfortunately hides many of the thoughtful design details. If you’re new to the pattern, I recommend checking out the pattern testers photos to better appreciate its features.

I used a lightweight cotton voile, which gave the top a lovely drape and made it especially comfortable for warmer weather. I’ll definitely be making another — and maybe playing around with more neckline or sleeve variations next time.

I highly recommend this pattern – just be sure to choose a fabric that lets the details shine!

Material

Primary Fabric Use lightweight woven fabrics such as shirting, crepe, challis, or rayon/viscose twill. Keep in mind that the wrong side of the fabric will be visible on the ruffles and flutter sleeves, so choose your fabric accordingly. If you opt for the armhole ruffles, note that the fabric can become quite bulky—be sure to use very lightweight fabric.

Interfacing Use lightweight fusible woven or weft insertion interfacing.

Other Materials

  • Six (6) 1/2” (12 mm) buttons
  • For Sleeveless Top – No Ruffle, Single Ruffle, or Double Ruffles: 60” (155 cm) of 1 1/2”-wide (3.8 cm-wide) flat (non-folded) bias tape made from a very lightweight woven fabric such as batiste, voile, or lining fabric. Alternatively, make continuous bias tape using a 10” x 10” (25 cm x 25 cm) fabric square by following this tutorial: itch-to-stitch.com/biastape

How to choose your size

  1. Determine your cup size—subtract the circumference of your over bust from the circumference of the fullest part of your bust. If the rounded difference is 1″ (2.5 cm), use A cup; 2″ (5 cm), use B cup; 3″ (7.5 cm), use C cup; 4″ (10 cm), use D cup; 5″ (12.5 cm), use DD cup.
  2. After determining the cup size, compare your bust circumference (fullest part) to the “Body Measurements” table. Using the corresponding row for your cup, choose the size that best fits your bust. If you are between sizes, choose the smaller size if you like your garment more fitted; otherwise, choose the bigger size.
  3. Compare your waist circumference (narrowest part) to the “Body Measurements” table. Choose the size that best fits your waist. If you are between sizes, choose the smaller size if you like your garment more fitted; otherwise, choose the bigger size.
  4. Compare your hip circumference (widest part) to the “Body Measurements” table. Choose the size that fits your hip best. If you are between sizes, choose the smaller size if you like your garment more fitted; otherwise, choose the bigger size.
  5. It’s OK to use different sizes for the bust, waist and hip. The instructions for blending sizes are included in the pattern.
  6. If you are taller or shorter than 5’6” (168 cm), you should consider lengthening or shortening the garment. The instructions for lengthening or shortening are included in the pattern.
