Primary Fabric Use light-weight knit fabric with at least 50% stretch. If your knit fabric has more or less stretch, you may need to use a smaller or larger size. Jersey, sweater knit and double knit are great choices. A lace that does not tear easily can be used for the Front panels, as shown in the sample garment. Crochet lace is a good choice.
Interfacing Use light-weight knit or tricot fusible interfacing.
Most natural fibers shrink in the wash; be sure to have enough fabric. The requirements below assume that the fabric is already pre-shrunk.

How to choose your size
Eugenie –
The installation of the button bands can reveal stitching that should be hidden for a really polished finish.
Janice –
Very nice.
Chloe –
Brilliant pattern, easy to follow. I used quite a firm fabric which has made up into more of a jacket than cardigan so its quite smart.Got my inspiration from another sewer featured on the Minerva website. Even chose the same fabric! https://www.minerva.com/mp/1264098/textured-stretch-knit-fabric-black-grey
Quite sure I’ll make more of these.
Sue –
Made it for.my Mum and she loved it, easy to sew.
DeEtta –
This pattern was very easy to sew. I’ve made two of the cropped version and plan on a couple more of the regular length. It’s a great addition to my wardrobe.
Anna –
It’s an easy garment to sew up and fits like a glove. I did not need to make any adjustments at all. Love it!
Dean –
This is fabulous! Looks great with my new skirt
Ann –
Can’t wait to make this in the cropped length!

I graded 3 sizes from shoulder to hips, shortened sleeves and will narrow the sleeve from elbow to wrist, added 2 ” in length. The pattern was great fitting, and instructions easy to follow. I love my new sweater knit cardigan and planning the next. Unfortunately my sewing machine hate making button holes on knit so I have to plan differently.

Love the Lisbon Cardigan. Have made 2 so far and plan to make another soon. Pattern instructions were clear and easy to follow. Thank you.

J’adore vos patrons, ils sont faciles à faire.

Such a great versatile pattern! A total wardrobe staple and building block. So far I made 2 in cotton jersey, and one in a wool knit fabric, which was itchy so I tried lining it with stretch lining (by doubling the main pattern pieces) worked like a charm!
I love that I can make some summery 3/4 length sleeves, or perhaps use lace like shown in the pattern pics. This is easy one of the most useful patterns I own! Yes, i love making pretty dresses, but this just goes with everything and it’s great!
Love that the actual instructions are concise and to the point, and therefore not overly long. There is a bunch of useful and helpful info before the sewing steps, but the seeing steps are lined out clean and without extra wording or filler. Totally love that too!
If you are still debaying, I am gonna say, yes, yes, you do need this pattern!

I am obsessed with button up cardigans and this pattern is my unicorn! It’s a very easy sew! The instructions are quite clear and easy to follow. It’s flattering and easy to play with color blocking and patterns for unique looks. I’m so thrilled!

so handy. a great wardrobe staple

The perfect wardrobe builder. This versatile cardigan can be dressy or casual. The shorter length is the perfect dress sweater. The bands lay flat which is a big plus to making this cardigan look polished.
Bee –
Really good instructions and the pattern was perfect. End result was delightful ❤️
Linda –

I’m in love with this cardigan! It’s amazing, the normal length to wear with pants, the short length to wear over a dress.
Just made my first one. The fit is perfect! It’s figure flattering, and with the good instructions it’s easy to make.
I’m sure I’ll make a whole bunch of these cardigans. A matching one for each dress 😜 or blouse.
Thank you, I’ve finally found a cardigan pattern that suits me

love this little cardigan a staple wardrobe item

I bought it and in two Werks i Made 3 of Thema. I would like, if you would design it with breastdarts for bigger sizes…there is a tiny, tiny pleat at the armholes.
Lia –
I just love this pattern. True to size and easy instructions to follow. I have been looking for a really good cardigan pattern and I am so glad to find the Lisbon Cardigan. I highly recommend the pattern even for beginners.
Bernice –
This cardigan is the perfect length and shape. I love the cardigan I made!

I love love love this pattern! The instructions are very clear, the pattern is well-drafted and the finished cardigan fits me very well.
I whipped up my first cardigan yesterday in 4 hours, cutting the fabric included. Considering there is no bust dart and I wear a DD cup bra, I was wondering about the fit beforehand but found that there is no full bust adjustment needed. Same goes for a full bicep adjustment which I usually have to do but skipped with this pattern, there is enough ease.
Only things I did change was shortening the sleeves (my arms are rather short) and skipping the buttons and the buttonholes in favor of large snaps which I put on a satin ribbon in a matching color, then sewing that ribbon on the button bands.

I can’t believe that there are not more rave reviews of the Lisbon cardigan pattern. I love it! Made my first one yesterday. Made my second today! I love the fit around the neck and shoulders. It’s a really well drafted pattern with very clear, detailed instructions. I made the regular length with long sleeves. It is the perfect length for me (I’m 5’4″) so if you are taller, you may want to add a little to the length. I shortened the sleeves by 1″ as I don’t like sleeves that go over my hands. I also added an extra button where the bottom band and bodice join as I found that my cardigans gaped a little there. Didn’t have too much trouble with the buttonholes, though I did sew them first before sewing the band onto the cardigan as a “just-in-case” measure. Excellent pattern! Any chance there could be an add on for a V-neck version????

Made 2 so far and will make more. Great pattern to do a quick cardigan to go with other makes. So pleased with it

A must have! I had fun assembling mine. The instructions are very well done. The whole process took me one afternoon from beginning to end (cutting included). I will make again for sure, it has endless possibilities and the finished product looks great.
Only difficult part was to sew nice buttonholes in knit. I have found some useful tutorials online to ace it next time with tear away embroidery film.

This pattern is a must have! It is the perfect addition to any pattern stash. I know I will be making this on repeat! The
pattern itself is also very detailed making this a easy sew!

I helped test Lisbon and it is a great wardrobe staple that sews up quickly and beautifully! The ease makes it comfortable, but it has enough fit to look sleek and stylish for work. I’m going to be using this pattern again and again as it goes with anything and has so many options for seasonal & occasion variation! I highly recommend this pattern!
