Size Chart

Envigado Vest PDF Sewing Pattern Body Measurements

Choosing Your Size

  1. Determine your cup size—subtract the circumference of your over bust from the circumference of the fullest part of your bust. If the rounded difference is 1″ (2.5 cm), use A cup; 2″ (5 cm), use B cup; 3″ (7.5 cm), use C cup; 4″ (10 cm), use D cup; 5″ (12.5 cm), use DD cup.
  2. After determining the cup size, compare your bust circumference (fullest part) to the “Body Measurements” table. Using the corresponding row for your cup, choose the size that best fits your bust. If you are between sizes, choose the smaller size if you like your garment more fitted; otherwise, choose the bigger size.
  3. Compare your waist circumference (narrowest part) to the “Body Measurements” table. Choose the size that best fits your waist. If you are between sizes, choose the smaller size if you like your garment more fitted; otherwise, choose the bigger size.
  4. Compare your hip circumference (widest part) to the “Body Measurements” table. Choose the size that best fits your hip. If you are between sizes, choose the smaller size if you like your garment more fitted; otherwise, choose the bigger size.
  5. It’s OK to use different sizes. See “Blend Sizes” in instructions for details.
  6. If you are taller or shorter than 5’6” (168 cm), you should consider lengthening or shortening the top (see instructions for details).

I highly recommend that you check your fit by making a test garment with inexpensive fabric that has similar weight and stretch as your final garment fabric.

Material

Primary Fabric Use lightweight to medium weight woven fabric. Twill, broadcloth, chambray, taslan nylon and linen are great choices.

Lining Use lightweight, stable woven fabric such as cotton. The bodice is not lined, but the lining is used for the pockets, pocket flaps, hood and armhole.

Interfacing Use lightweight to medium weight fusible woven or weft insertion interfacing. If using taslan nylon as primary fabric, be sure to use interfacing that fuses at low temperature.

Other Materials

  • Ten 1/2” (1.25 cm) no-sew snap fasteners with corresponding tool for installation
  • A separating zipper for jackets in the following length for your cup size/size (longer zipper can be shortened—See "Shorten a Zipper" section in the instructions):Envigado Vest PDF Sewing Pattern Zipper Length by Size
  • 3/8” (1 cm) wide drawstring cord or ribbon as long as your waist, plus 20” (50 cm)
  • For optional hood: 45” (115 cm) long, 3/8” (1 cm) wide drawstring cord or ribbon

Fabric Requirements

Most natural fibers shrink in the wash; be sure to have enough fabric. The requirements below assume that the fabric is already pre-shrunk.

    Fit was true to description.

Love this pattern. I can see it becoming a staple in my wardrobe.

  3. Val Batty (verified owner)

I love this, although made in a slightly off piste fabric. A nice water resistant twill in the camouflage fabric, used by Nordic armed forces when it snows. My first venture into patterns other than the usual was last year and so far I am impressed, excellent instructions. I didn’t have to worry about anything, even though I’d shortened because of my height. Perfect, might do again in a more conventional fabric.

I also took the easy way out and had it printed, knocking out the sheets sizes not required to a manageable two.

I wear my vest to work (I work in a lumber yard and greenhouse) it keeps me looking clean and professional but its not to heavy like a lot of other vests so I don’t over heat during the day. I love it!!!!!

  5. Debra (verified owner)

Even the more challenging ones can be done by just about anyone b/c her instructions are so clear that if you follow them step by step, you’re guaranteed to have a perfectly fitting, professional looking garment. An added bonus is that she will have kicked your sewing skills up a notch.

The patterns that Kennis designs are made for, and fit, real people. Being able to see the clothes on so many different body shapes and sizes is a big part of why I buy. The clothes are attractive and flattering!

This vest is gorgeous! The finishing and details elevate it to a professional level. No one will be able to tell that you made it! Once again, Kennis has clear and detailed directions and even cups sizes to help you get the perfect fit! There is nothing else like this on the pdf pattern market that I have seen and it is not only on-trend now, but will be stylish for many years to come! I can’t wait to make another one!

The Envigado vest took no time at all in becoming a daily worn item in my wardrobe. This is a “must make more than one” garment for me! The instructions are spot on and the finish of the vest is even better than some ready to wear vests I have seen in the shops. Thanks for another great pattern!
