The Envigado Vest keeps you a little warmer on blustery days while looking on-trend as a creative layering piece for all your outdoor adventures, hiking, trail and urban explorations. The Envigado Vest has front and back princess seams that contour over your figure and give you a great fit. Other features include ample front pockets with buttoned flaps, waist drawstrings and optional hood with drawstring.

I purchased the vest pattern and waterproof fabric during the pandemic with an intention of making a featherweight rain coat. I knew I’d have to draft my own sleeves to achieve that goal, and so the project has been lingering in my stash since 2021. I finally got bitten by the “I really want a cute red raincoat” bug again this winter and finally undertook the project. From start to finish I completed the sleeve drafts and coat in a little over a week.
In addition to incorporating self-drafted sleeves I made a few other changes:
– Added angled welt pockets to the front and opted not to used the ones from the pattern
– Lowered the drawstring casing at the waistline a bit
– Modified the drawstring casing to just be a waist band, and opted not to use a drawstring in the hood
– Added a fabric “bill” to the hood for additional rain cover
– Used a 2-way zip for more freedom of (leg) movement when the jacket is zipped. I wear the jacket zipped only around the height of the waistline to hike or otherwise be more active when wearing it.
I’m very happy with my finished product and it will serve me very well as part of a travel wardrobe, as well as a wear-everywhere/anytime (darling red) cargo type jacket while here at home.

A really nice pattern that is well drafted and easy to follow. I am very happy with the finished garment and enjoy wearing it. I hacked the pattern to create a lining and my next hack for this pattern will be sleeves to create a jacket. I will be reusing this pattern many times I like it so much.

I love this, although made in a slightly off piste fabric. A nice water resistant twill in the camouflage fabric, used by Nordic armed forces when it snows. My first venture into patterns other than the usual was last year and so far I am impressed, excellent instructions. I didn’t have to worry about anything, even though I’d shortened because of my height. Perfect, might do again in a more conventional fabric.
I also took the easy way out and had it printed, knocking out the sheets sizes not required to a manageable two.

I wear my vest to work (I work in a lumber yard and greenhouse) it keeps me looking clean and professional but its not to heavy like a lot of other vests so I don’t over heat during the day. I love it!!!!!
