Primary fabric Use a very light-weight soft woven fabric or knit fabric with drape. Rayon challis, voile, batiste, georgette, charmeuse and jersey are great choices. Do not use quilting cotton or heavier weight fabrics.
Contrast Fabric A contrast fabric is used for the shoulder panels. You could use the same fabric as the primary fabric, or use a similar quality light-weight woven fabric. Rayon challis, voile, batiste, georgette, charmeuse and jersey are great choices. You could use a semi-transparent fabric to add interest.
Most natural fibers shrink in the wash; be sure to have enough fabric. The requirements below assume that the fabric is already pre-shrunk. Do not use fabric narrower than 54" (135 cm) as the primary fabric; it is not wide enough to accommodate the pattern pieces.

Easy yet has great style. I love the sleeve inset as it can be made to contrast or match. A lace inset would be beautiful. And the best part is this top can be sewn with either woven or stretch fabric!

I made this with a drapy cotton jersey for the main body and Liberty London lawn for the shoulder panels. The instructions aren’t written for knits, but the woven shoulder panel I used helped to stabilize the sewing. It is one of the comfiest stylish tops I own, and I can’t wait to make more. I love the decorative contrast possibilities.
