Pattern Giveaway – Straight Stitch Designs – Kimberly Payne
**As part of Itch to Stitch’s one-year birthday celebration, one featured designer will be giving away two patterns each day.**
It was so nice to hear your stories about the most difficult sewing you tackled (and won!) yesterday. I believe that if you put your heart to do something, you will eventually be able to do it, no matter how difficult it may seem at first. The winner of yesterday’s pattern giveaway is… Suping. I will contact you, Suping. Congrats!
Today’s featured designer is Kimberly Payne from Straight Stitch Designs. Kimberly started her pattern journey a little earlier than I did and we are fellow Pattern Workshop students. In fact, she celebrated Straight Stitch Designs one-year anniversary last month. I admire that Kimberly is a fearless trail blazer. She started issuing her own paper patterns when everyone else was still contemplating the options. She started selling pattern and fabric kits. Then she is working on another project now (which I am not sure is a secret or not, so I’d better not say anything. You should follow her on Straight Stitch Designs for her announcement.) And I really like her comfy and stylish designs too!
Kimberly is graciously giving away two patterns to one lucky winner. To get a chance to win the patterns, please comment and tell us about your dream sewing space. I will pick a winner tomorrow.
I would love to have a winter garden/sewing room:-) sewing in a green space would be dreamy!
somewhere I can display my fabrics (without them getting dusty 😉 ) and have all my patterns immaculately organized. A place where pins will not get lost on the floor, and where my sewing machine is always ready to go (a personal repair person would be great too :p )
I’d like a more ergonomic cutting table.
I dream of a dedicated craft space where my walls are lined with my fabric (and yarn). I would love to have a sewing table where sewing is all I do and a cutting table beside it. Space for my ironing board would also be fabulous. Basically, my dream sewing room is spacious enough that everything can be left set up and I would have to move things and put things away as I go from one thing to another.
My dream space would have designated zones for my fabric, notions, a cutting area, sewing area, serging area & a place for my embroidery supplies. At the moment I would be happy to have somewhere out of the way, without distractions & with a place for everything so that my sewing supplies weren’t all over the house.
My dream sewing space would be….a small house! Lol
It would have an area for my quilting frame, and a separate area for sewing and embroidery. There would be space to organize fabrics by type and a closet area for notions.
A space that is self tidying. I make such a mess when I sew (or do anything really) so if it could clean up after me that would be great.
My husband has promised me a sewing shed in the garden, so I’m busy dreaming of storage and tables!
It would be a room where it is easy to keep everything tidy – I hate clutter but cannot seem to get rid of it!
My dream sewing space would have a big cutting table, lots of natural light, big storage for my fabric stash and of course fresh flowers!
My dream sewing room would have a place for everything and all of it labeled, a big cutting table, tables for my 3 machines plus the machines I don’t have yet, a longarm quilting machine and table, storage for fabric, large windows, great lighting, a comfy chair for hand sewing or reading, and enough space left to walk around and work.
My dream sewing space would have lots of shelving for fabric and a separate cutting table.
My dream room would have all industrial machines and all dress forms in every size! A big cutting table with it’s own cutting mat to match, and a large flat-screen tv to watch all my netflix shows on while I sew!
My dream space would include a 4m long cutting table, a solid counter that holds all my machines in a corner, lots of windows, sunlights and lights, a big ironing area, lots of electrical outlets so I don’t trip on cords, an easy to clean floor, and plenty of cupboards with glass windows.
I would love to have a room that has one long counter for sewing machine and serger with walls full of organizers and drawers that are within arms reach full of all the gadgets one needs. In the middle of the room would be a big rectangle cutting table covered with a cutting mat. A floor to ceiling cupboard that holds ALL the fabric one has and would also be a place to store finished products waiting to be sold.
My current space is pretty great because I have a designated space with a large table! I would love a serger and cover stitch in there too, and a beautiful cabinet with glass doors to show off my (organized, of course) fabric!
Tons of windows with uv filtration . All the light none of the damage.
My dream space would have walls filled with organized fabrics, my machines all in a row, and big enough to have a large cutting table and ironing board out at all times.
My dream sewing space would have lots of natural light. Large windows that I could use for tracing, a stand alone rack to hang all my patterns and self drafted patterns in progress on. Lots of storage space where I could see all of my fabric, patterns and notions. And plenty of space for cutting, ironing and leaving half finished projects out midstep because I tend to jump around from one to another depending on my mood.
My dream sewing space would be a big room with lots of natural light. A big cutting table so you can lay the whole pattern. A table big enough to put my sewing machine and my serger and lots of storage for all my supplies.
My dream sewing space is a nice sized room with a counter top height cutting table in the middle of the room with shelves and drawers on either end. A corner desk with sewing machine on one side and serger on the other. One wall would be all shelving for fabric and Notion storage. 🙂
My dream space would have lots of natural light, storage space and far enough away from the dogs that I am not battling hair.
Pretty simple…my dream sewing space would be to actually have a room just for my sewing/crafts. Custom built table along the wall (with storage above and below) for my various machines (sewing, serger, embroidery, coverstitch, cricut, and anything else I could think of. Another custom built table with storage for cutting and lots of storage for fabric. A comfy chair to sit in, stereo for music, tv for entertainment and at least one dressform. A space for my laptop and printer and a recliner or something to just lounge in because why would I ever want to leave the room? lol. Of course windows would be nice too but I would want them to face some type of private serene area (private beach, woods….basically anything other than facing out to a road or looking at my neighbors house. *Sigh* A girl can dream!!
My dream sewing space would have lots of outlets, a custom made cutting table which is high enough to not stress my back (I 6′ tall). Lots of over head lights for sewing around the clock. A table for my DDs sewing machines and my Supermova Necchi (which would finally work) and serger nearby. My fabric stash would be in a nice wardrobe which Keeps it dust free, patterns in a nice filing cabnet or dresser. Best of All, a door to close so I can focus on a project or ignore the mess in the sewing room. ?
Spacious room with big windows and breathtaking view
My dream sewing space would be just a sewing room not having to be shared with anything else! Not my bed or anything…just fabric, patterns, sewing machine and more sewing stuff! 🙂
Just my own room would be wonderful!! Right now I sew in a small space behind the couch in our living room, and it’s usually messy 🙂
My dream sewing space would be a big room with big windows and tables, big drawers for fabric and patterns and inspirational pictures framed and on the wall.
One with tons of space! Room for a sewing machine, serger, cover stitch machine, hell, while in dreaming throw in a long arm too! A huge table covered in a giant cutting mat and a big pressing surface. Oh, and a sound proof door!
My dream sewing space would be actually part of a large crafting room where I also make soap and other bath and beauty products. I would have various machines-sewing machine, serger, coverstitch and embroidery. I would have many built in shelves to store all my fabric as well as multiple cutting tables with storage as well.
I want a room dedicated to sewing. It should be big enough to hold a table that can carry my two sewing machines & serger. I need a whole fabric wall, a cutting station, with a thread and bobbin holder in reach. I need a section to hang and store cutting mats scissors and other tools. I also need a wall to store buttons ribbons and other notions. The room should be fully air conditioned with great lighting and a window view. This window should have a sitting area for when I want to take a break, read a pattern and sip a cup of warm tea or have a snack. I need a child and adult mannequin in a corner of the room with a mobile clothing rack nearby to hang all my pretties for sale.
In my dream sewing space, my patterns would assemble and cut themselves out so I can spend more time sewing, my bobbins would only run out when I’m finished with something, and I’d never break a needle :). A girl can dream!
my dream sewing space is with my sisters and has a time warp so we never have to leave till we are finished. Oh and a verandah to sit in the sun for hand sewing and chatting.
My dream sewing room would be very large and spacious with lots of natural light, sewing tables for each machine, the proper height cutting table and tons of storage where I could see my stash. I would love a big screen T.V. and comfy chairs so people could visit with me while I sewed. A woman can dream can’t she?
I haven’t been sewing long but love the first thing I ever made for my baby daughter – it was awful but I was so proud!
Dream sewing space is my own little cottage out back with out a toddler crawling on me
My dream space would be a large room with large windows to let in natural light. I’d love a table in the middle with storage cabinets as legs. Around the room would be a table for each of my machines and a couch with a tv for when I need to pick out a bunch of stitches 😛
My dream sewing space is enough room for my 4 machines and a cutting table in the center of the room.
My dream sewing space would be on a beach in Hawaii…haha! You did say dream! 😉 Seriously, how awesome would that be?!
We are actually building a house right now and one of the requirements was a sewing room for myself. I am so happy that I won’t be in the basement anymore!
Mine is one that has brand spanking new Juki sewing machine and Serger in it. Unlimited supply of zippers and fabrics!
My dream sewing space is one that I don’t have to pack up every day. it would be fully fitted out and have an awesome sound system.
Right now my kitchen is the best option, so I can watch my little boys while I sew during the day. But it will be nice to someday have a cutting table that I don’t have to clear off for dinner time.
It would be self tidying
My dream space would have a big table with my sewing machines all set up (no getting them out of my cupboard every freaking time) a big table for cutting fabrics, lots of daylight, a big cupboard for my fabrics and a nice chair.
The one I have is very good and I’m very grateful for it…. but if I could have my dream one? A BIG cutting table in the center – and a windowed wall to find inspiration outside!
My dream sewing space would have lots of open storage, so i can see what I have. It would also have lots of light, a huge cutting table at a good height and a large sewing table that my sewing machine sits in.
My dream sewing space would have a lot of windows for light and a really big cutting table in the center of the room. A sewing table big enough for my two machines and along the walls a lot of shelves for storing my fabric and patterns.
My dream sewing space would have a cutting table tall enough that I don’t have to bend any, and a desk tall enough to accommodate my long legs. Oh, and maybe 3 more machines than I have now.
My dream sewing space would be in a locked room in a corner of the house away from everyone. I would have a Horn sewing desk with a top notch Bernina machine. I would have a cabinet full of fabric to use at Mt disposal. I would also have a wall rack full of every color thread imaginable.
My dream sewing space will have nothing in it but sewing supplies and tons of expensive fabrics I can’t afford right now.
My dream sewing space is to have a room completely dedicated to my sewing. With a steam iron with vacuum ironing board, a big cutting table i the right height and space enough to have both my sewing machines at hand at all times. I would also have a big digital mood board for all my pinterest inspiration. In other words, something completely different from the kitchen table sewing I’m experiencing at the moment.
