New Pattern: Auvers Top
The Auvers Top is here! I always wanted to make a surplice top pattern for lightweight, soft, silky fabric, and I’ve finally done it! The Auvers is so pretty and elegant, but at the same time, casual. It will be perfect for the summer from day to night. It also looks wonderful under a jacket.
For one week (through June 29, 2022), the Auvers pattern is 20% off. The volume discount still applies—get 15% off your entire cart if your purchase is $20 or more, or 20% off your entire cart if your purchase is $30 or more.
Auvers Top Features:
- Options for regular bust and full bust
- Surplice front with two halves crossing diagonally
- Bottom front finish with elastic to create a blouson effect
- Sleeveless armhole finished with bias binding
- Back yoke with box pleat
- Shirttail hem in the back
- Designed for very lightweight, soft woven fabric
My favorite feature of the Auvers is the “blouson” effect of the front. It looks like you are tucking the top in the front, but you have a longer shirttail hem to cover the butt in the back. But of course, you can tuck the back in anyway if you’d like.
Oh, a side note: If your fabric is not transparent, you really don’t need a cami underneath. However, some people feel more comfortable with one. If that’s you, the Cartegena Cami will be perfect!
My testers did a superb job with their Auvers Tops! Let’s take a look!

Hi,
Do you think that top Auvers can be made without the elastics?
Greetings Nancy
Hi Nancy, the Auvers could be made without the elastic. Aesthetically speaking, it might look a bit frumpy because it would just be straight down. But I think it could be lovely if you use a belt to create some shape at the waist.
Nice top! Looking simple yet elegant. So inspiring look. Thanks for nice post.
Do you think this top could be breast feeding-friendly?
Hi Margaret, yes, I think it is breast-feeding friendly.
I would like to add a sleeve. Is there a sleeve on any of your other patterns that would work well on this pattern?
Thank you,
Liz
Hi Liz, I am afraid there isn’t. I draft a sleeve specific to the armhole for every pattern. Also, sleeveless armholes are different from sleeved armholes. I don’t recommend a sleeve that you can just “pop” in.
Beautiful, just what I need for Summer in a few months
Beautiful! Perfect warm weather top with a dressier look than a knit. I love the strip play on the one blouse!
What is holding the overlap closed? stitched, button/snap?
Hi Kay, thank you. There’s a snap. 🙂
Awesome! Thank you. So much to sew so little to time! This one however is will be work approved so to the top of the sewing list it goes! 🙂 Love the new patterns you have been designing lately!
