The Eddystone Jeans are high-rise jeans that get you covered, literally! They keep your backside modest as you are moving about, not to mention they are extremely comfortable! The Eddystone comes in two styles—the girlfriend fit and demi-boot fit. The girlfriend fit is fitted from the waist through the hip while the tapered legs give you the perfect amount of ease, balancing comfort and femininity. The demi-boot fit is similar to the girlfriend fit, except with a subtle flare starting at the knees.

Eddystone Jeans Features:

  • High rise
  • Ankle length
  • Options for girlfriend fit and demi boot fit
  • Classic five-pocket design
  • Pocket stay to keep pockets in place and trim the tummy
  • Designed for bottomweight fabric with a slight stretch
  • Layers feature (print only the sizes you need)

Primary Fabric Use bottom weight, woven fabric with a firm stretch and great recovery. 10% stretch is ideal. Go up one size at the waist and hip if using bottom weight fabric with no stretch. Twill, denim and corduroy are great choices.

Lining Use a stable, non stretch woven fabric for the lining. Quilting cotton is a great choice.

Fabric Requirements

Most natural fibers shrink in the wash; be sure to have enough fabric. The requirements below assume that the fabric is already pre-shrunk.

  1. Deborah

These jeans fit well. The sewing instructions are clear and detailed. The only adjustment I made was to the back to add a bit more sitting room.

  2. Tammy

These fit like a dream with no adjustments. The instructions are clear and considering this is my first time making “real” jeans, I am really impressed with how they turned out. I made a “muslin” pair of shorts first with a scrap of denim just to test the fit! Highly recommend this pattern.

  3. Annie

This was my first experience with a digital pattern and with this designer. After a misstep in printing from non Adobe software, I learned… thankfully before cutting any fabric! Turns out I am a perfect size 6 and the instructions are darn easy to follow. I’ve made 2 “practice” pairs so far… having some fun distressing jeans in bleach…and plan to make the Atenas Jacket next.

  4. Rhonda

Great pattern. I have a few practice runs first to check fit.

  5. Elizabeth

Your instructions are so clear and thorough, it was a pleasure sewing the pants!

  6. Marleen

I have size 6 and this size was perfect for me. No adjustments were Neede.

  7. Ellen

Still making, but so far the fit is excellent. BTW, I own 8 of your patterns so far and the ones that I have now used the most I purchased through other outlets and so cannot review here. However, I’ve found Itch-to-stich patterns to be excellent. They are exquisitely designed, perfectly sized and drafted, and everything always falls nicely into place at the end. I am so used to these patterns that I make my standard personal adjustments and voila, the end product is excellent. I have made the Montana shirt four times, in two sizes (to accommodate layering vs. no layering) and I’ll make it again and again. When I am shopping for patterns I will always opt for Itch-to-Stitch over another pattern when I find two patterns that meet my requirements.

  8. Helen

These are the best fitting jeans I have ever made. Usually I have problems with gaping at the back and fitting below the waist but the eddy stone jeans fit perfectly.

  9. angie

This is the best fitting pair of pants I have made without any major adjustments other than shortening. I did change the order of the leg seams as I wanted to topstitch the outer leg rather than the inner leg. I also added SF101 interfacing to the waistband.

  10. Rina

    Very comfortable and instructions excellent

    Great pattern

  12. rloharris

Great sewing project for improving your skills and for a garment to be proud of, I’m pear shaped and these look wonderful, I don’t ever wear jeans I wanted to wear girlfriend jeans and never found any that fit until I made some. Bought some fabric for the next pair!

  13. Kari

I was looking for a high-waisted jeans pattern and this one fit me perfectly everywhere.

  14. Anonymous

I’m still on the first fitting for my asymmetrical shape, but all the pattern pieces fit together and the instructions make sense.

  15. Anonymous

This is the pattern I have been looking for! A old fashioned pair of jeans that isn’t made in that that super stretchy fabric that everyone but me adores. I discovered this pattern on Andreanne Abel’s youtube comparison of jeans. While the jeans didn’t work for her but I loved them for the fabric type and I know you have the best instructions going.

This pattern is awesome. It’s now my go-to jeans pattern. Thanks Kennis 🙂

  17. Anonymous

A great alternative to the modern jean pattern

  18. Catherine

Gorgeous jeans, it’s lovely to be able to alter for better fit unlike rtw jeans

  19. Kathleen

This is a good pattern. I love the shape of the tapered leg, and these fit great with just a few adjustments for my asymmetry and I added a tiny bit to the crotch length. The directions were excellent. I am going to make another pair right away.

  20. Jan

I liked the 1/2” seam allowances, and after making a muslin found the fit suited my shape

  21. Linda

These were a pleasure to make- I did leave off the coin pocket and the belt loops. I will be making more of these.

  22. Irene

Easy to follow instructions, lovely style

  23. Shirley

These jeans are wonderful!!!!! I am not a jeans person because they never have fit properly. These are so easy to adapt to your figure that I am now converted.
Whomever wrote the directions did a superior job. They are clear and easy to follow.
I am 76 years old and have been sewing for nearly 60 of those years. However jeans always defeated me. With this pattern and some sewing experience anyone can make a comfortable pair. I do suggest making them up first in a fabric you’ve had for awhile that you aren’t sure you really like. You will like it after these jeans are finished and you will know where to make fitting changes for a fabric you love.

    Complicated instructions

  25. Ramona

I love the style, sizing options and the fact that I can take it to my local copy shop to have the full-size pattern printed on one sheet.

  26. Liliane

I had a little problem to find my size but, once done, it was easy to go on. It was my first jean with real fly. Instructions are so good that it was succesfull immediatly

  27. Addrea

Very clear and easy to understand instructions. My first pair were successful after fitting a muslin and watching Karina’s review on Lifting Pins and Needles.

How to choose your size

  1. Compare your waist circumference (narrowest part) to the “Body Measurements” table. Choose the size that best fits your waist. If you are between sizes, choose the smaller size if you like your garment more fitted; otherwise, choose the bigger size.
  2. Compare your hip circumference (widest part) to the “Body Measurements” table. Choose the size that fits your hip best. If you are between sizes, choose the smaller size if you like your garment more fitted; otherwise, choose the bigger size.
  3. It’s OK to use different sizes for the bust, waist and hip. The instructions for blending sizes are included in the pattern.
  4. If you are taller or shorter than 5’6” (168 cm), you should consider lengthening or shortening the garment. The instructions for lengthening or shortening are included in the pattern.
