How to choose your size

Oyinda –
The instructions were excellent as always and the fly construction process was straightforward. I’m a fairly experienced sewist, and while I’ve sewn with denim before, this was my first time sewing a 5-pocket jeans style and I don’t think this pattern was a good start for me. My advice is to make a muslin **with the back pockets** and during construction, baste the side seams of the jeans and try them on especially if you made a muslin with regular muslin fabric. I found out I had to take in the waist and hip by about 3/8” at that stage (10 oz denim).
The 1/2” seam allowance was not great to work with as it does not allow for real flat felled seams. Of course, I know you can always change the seam allowance, but it would have been nice to have at least 5/8” SA to have a change of making flat felled seams,
I did not appreciate the amount of zipper teeth pulling required. The recommended zipper was simply too long. This was a particularly distressing experience for me because I’d never shortened a metal zipper before and it is not an intuitive task.
There was no topstitching template and the lines suggested by the instructions (merging two lines) were a bit hard to get to look good.
I think the waistband grading instructions are wrong or “non-standard.” Since the SA on the outside is usually kept longer when grading seams, the jeans SA should be trimmed, not the waistband SA as the instructions say.
Finally, the back pockets are very large. Again, this can always be changed, but it would have been nice to to not have to go find a different pocket pattern.

These pants have an awesome fit. I changed to a curved waistband and shortened the legs and it turned out perfect! Thank you

This pattern is very well drafted with clear instructions. I took 2 inches out of the rise and added 2 inches to the leg length below the knee (just personal preference). I also used my own (curved) waistband as I have a swayback and my waistband is perfectly adjusted for that. I love the fit of these jeans and the only thing I’m not crazy about are the darts in the legs. When i sit or bend my knees they (the darts) ride up and don’t give the ease in the right place. I have another jeans pattern that has a shaped leg with no darts and I prefer that, but still love these jeans and i wear them a lot!

Perfect fit, roomy pockets and most comfortable to wear: that first pair is just the start of more !
Diane –
Beautifully finished and so comfortable to wear! And as always, the instructions are amazing!
Lisa –
A really nice pattern. The instructions are clear and easy to follow and I ended up with a great fit.
