How to choose your size
Leticia –
Perfect!!
Kathy –
Everything matched up perfectly, and tank looks great. I had no trouble even though the knit remnant I used was very firm with minimal stretch. It was a great project for honing my serger skills.
Anonymous –
Ready enjoy the pattern
Anonymous –
I love this largo tank the fit is really nice thank you
M –
Going by my current measurements and the pattern information, the top was much too large for me. Instructions were clear though, and printing/assembling the pattern was easy.
Carina –
I like it
Anonymous –
First of all great pattern, it’s very thoroughly explained even though it’s just a simple top. The one thing to consider is that the smaller/medium sizes seem on the curvy side for the people in my life who wear those sizes, not a big deal I just had to made some adjustment.
Anonymous –
Nice pattern. Easily sewn.
Anonymous –
Easy instructions and to fallows, beautiful garments very impress with the details.
Deborah –
So easy to make, just what I needed for the hot weather.
Michele –
Love this pattern, I did find it quite large, I usually make a 4 but had to cut this back to a 0 and even then it’s quite baggy, I’ll probably make a 00 next time. A fast, easy make though which I’ll definitely fill my summer wardrobe up with!
Isabelle –
le pdf est bien fait
Becky –
Excellent!
Debby –
Fantastic. Perfect fit and correct to size
maxien Gorry –
I wish I could review the entire pattern and instuctions but I can’t. Unfortunatley the lines for cutting to my size do not print. I have tried several printers and tried printing in greyscale and colour but the lines do not print. I have checked my printer settings and done head cleans and deep cleans and still the same result.
There are lines for sizes 0-12 but its missing lines for sizes 14-18, then there are lines for size 20. I need size 14 or 16.
The lines are even missing in the size key.
Kennis Wong –

Susan –
This pattern is great! I’m an experienced sewist, but new to knits. Slight changes were needed to get the fit my friend wanted, but these were easy. I’ve made six of these tops for myself and a friend. Thanks!
Linda –
I have very little experience sewing with knit fabrics, and have never tackled neckbands and armbands even when sewing with knit garments. The size was a good fit based on my measurements, the instructions were easy to follow, and I am very pleased with the outcome. I will be making this again in a fabric that I really like – though I do now how a wearable toile. Thank you for giving me confidence to continue my sewing journey using knit fabrics.

Easy to make. Great for the Qld summer.
Janet –
Clear comprehensive and well organised instructions. Finished garment fitted well using body measurements to choose the blend of sizes to make. Have subsequently bought more patterns by this designer.
mtorrusio2020 –
This was the perfect top to test the vertical adjustments I need to customize Itch to Stitch patterns to my own body. Your tip that someone 5’1″ often removes 1/2 inch between the shoulders and bust was so helpful. You and Cashmerette are the only two companies I’ve found that provide such useful information! Fitting is an adventure, but it really helps not to go into the process blindly. It would be helpful if, in addition to showing photos of test garments, you could provide information on the vertical adjustments the testers make as well.
Many thanks for your help!
Marla –

This is a terrific pattern! I have never made clothing for myself, so I was ecstatic to see a free download to try the patterns. The idea of customizing it to fit is brilliant…I bought a fabric that wasn’t expensive to try it out and see if I liked the result and the pattern style. Have gotten many compliments on it and will surely make more tanks and will try other tops as well. Thanks for the gift of trying it before buying..wish you lots of success!

I needed new PJs/hanging-out clothes and I wasn’t happy with any of the top patterns I had. So I grabbed the free Lago tank top and gave it a tryout in double-brushed poly. It’s perfect! I wanted it comfy, so I went a size larger than usual. It’s not too tight or too loose for working out, TV-ing, cooking, and of course, sleeping. Currently preshrinking fabric for three more! I think it was well worth the price ;-)!
Anonymous –
Very good and easy. Like it!
Joanne –
Loved the Lago tank pattern, I made the size 8, and it fits really well and I am very pleased with the end result. I used a rayon spandex from spotlight and purchased a twin needle for the hem and top stitching. It was my first attempt using a twin needle, and wow it worked really well, I will definitely be using the twin needle again, especially for doing hems. It was a little bit of an effort to tape the A4 sheets together, but well worth it and I will definitely be trying another pattern. Thank you for supplying this free pattern.
Linda –
I am a new at sewing with knits & this is the perfect pattern. Love it

I really struggle with the sizing for this. I’m a UK 10 (EU 36) and fit pretty standard sizes. But when I measured myself to work out what size to make this top part of me was two whole sizes different to the rest. I rechecked and remeasured many times. So I simply printed out the size I’d normally wear and it was huge compared to tops that fit me well. I haven’t even cut my fabric out as I’m not sure how/if I should proceed. I don’t want to mock up a muslin for such a simple piece as it seems like a waste of fabric and time. Grading so dramatically between sizes also felt silly, especially as my measurements are normally so average.
Kennis Wong –
On each pattern, there is a section in the instructions called “Choosing Your Size”. Follow those instructions. It’s ok to choose different sizes for your bust, waist and hip. In fact, most women do. And your ready-to-wear sizing has nothing to do with the size your choose when you sew for yourself. Always follow the instructions.
Anonymous –
great.Thank you
Lisa –
The Lago tank pattern is great – I used a cotton modal spandex in blue snakeskin print – it is lovely and comfortable – wonderful instructions and I love the large print option.
Anonymous –
Lovely top and easy make.

Anonymous –
Very nice pattern and thank you for making it available!
Sharon –
Great free pattern! This came together so easily using scrap fabric I had left over from a t-shirt I had made for my husband. I’m definitely planning to add more to my collection. I will have to lengthen the pattern an inch or so and adjust the armholes next tie as I am quite chunky in the arms, but other than that I love the pattern 😃
Ling –
Bonjour, je n’ai pu utiliser votre patron, car le téléchargement que j’ai réalisé ne comporte pas le format du patron en A4. Peut être est-il possible de l’avoir?
Kennis Wong –
The A4 pattern pages are followed by the instructions in the same file.
Jan –

Claire –
I am very pleased with the pattern, it goes together easily and fits well.
Fran –
I had trouble with the sizing because the printing didn’t match the guide. But it worked out and I ended up neatening the edges just by turning a hem and top stitching.
Elaine –
Good fit
Gloria –
Great pattern but I had trouble figuring out the correct size to cut. When using a stretch fabric the finished measurements should be smaller than your body measurements. I had to cut off about four inches down the side seams. But I love my finished product. Thanks so much for the free pattern 😘
Anonymous –
Thank you! Lovely pattern, very easy to sew up and the perfect every day summer top!
Christine –
I have an apple Phone and IPad as my only internet access devices. When I tried to use the “only printing the sizes I need”feature from these, the Adobe acrobat app didn’t show the icon. It’s only when I managed to get to a normal computer and download one of my patterns onto the Adobe on their system could I see it. Note , they are using the free Adobe just like me. So I’ve only been able to print one of the six patterns I paid for, so far, so I’m not happy that this wasn’t made clear when I purchased the PDF’s.
Frank –
Easy project, great practice gor a beginner.

Karen –
I actually used this pattern for my son who wanted a tank to wear under his work shirts. He’s on the small side, and most men’s patterns are too large for him. Thanks to the no darts and simple shape of this pattern, it worked perfectly. I’d like to request more men’s patterns that start in size extra small, please!

Lynn –
love it!
Machellie –
Fits perfect and so easy make. Love it.
Jurate –
Simple and clear pattern, excellent result. Many thanks. Just couple remarks for the perfection: a) would slightly reduce the width of neck and armhole bands (by 1/4″) as they tend to gap when medium weight jersey is used;
b) topstitching should be a must for more professional look 😊
Mandy –
Great pattern, easy instructions
Alisha –
Simple, yet pretty!
Chaynêze –
Beautiful patterns, i like the design, thanks so much
Anna –
Very clear instructions, love layers option in pdf.
As for the fit, I don’t know why, but in the end I’ve removed ~15cm in bust area so it fit me better, even though it was the right circumference according to my measurements. Maybe it was smth about the fabric stretch (I have no idea, it was the first time ever for me sewing with knitwear).
Moira –
Great pattern, just the thing for our hot summers here in South Africa.
Sharon M –
ok
Kelly –
Loved it

Loved the easy to follow pattern. In reading the reviews, I also experienced the need to adjust the arm holes. I’m guessing I’ll need to go down a size or two. Otherwise, the pattern fit great! I’ll have to look up the directions on how to make needed adjustments for my next try. I’ve never graded a pattern before, as I have not sewn many garments for myself.

Hi. I wonder what size are you wearing this in the photo? I think im pretty close to your size. I had printed size 8- which is way too big, went down and it still too big, and getting a bit frustrated ?. ..
Love the shape of it though, gonna be my favorite tank if im success sewing this ?.

Hi, mine is a size 6 graded to size 10 at the hip. But it’s not really just about the size; make sure that you are using a knit fabric that has 2-way or 4-way knit fabric with 50% to 75% stretch and good recovery. You can google “how to determine fabric stretch percentage” if you are not familiar. And good recovery is very important; if you use a fabric that just drapes down but doesn’t bounce back, then it can be too large.

What I was looking for.

I’ve been looking for a “perfect” tank pattern for a while. I’ve sewn commercial patterns, and drafted my own by cloning tanks I love, but something’s always missing.
I’ve seen a lot of reviews of the Lago saying how great it is, so I decided to give it a try. As a free pattern it was also an opportunity to give Itch To Stitch a try since I have several other patterns of theirs on my wish list… the Mountain View Pull-On Jeans being top of the list right now.
First, I made the correct size for the Lago Tank based on my measurements, to see how ITS wanted it to look.
Apparently, huuuuge and ill-fitting? It was so gigantic that the sides of the tank top were draping like swag curtains, in floppy “U” shapes, with armholes that could almost have fit a kimono sleeve, and gave a complete view of my bra. Yikes! I did like the shape of the neckline, however, so I ran each side up, pinching out over an inch (so, removed four+ inches in total)… it’s still a bit large on the sides but that was as brave as I could be on the first go, and I decided that while I love the shape, the neckline falls lower than my comfort level, so I’d try the tank again in whatever size seemed about four inches smaller in circumference and see if that solved the issues.
By that measurement I should have gone down three sizes—but never having seen a pattern that far off I decided to go down only two sizes, adding 3/4″ to the length so a smaller top wouldn’t mean a shorter top. This worked perfectly (if by perfectly you mean having to guess, and make two tops, before getting one that fits like the pattern photo led me to expect).
While the semi-racerback dips in too far in the back to cover my bra straps, it is fitting how I believe it was designed to fit now, so not noticing the back-shoulder width of this pattern would be a little revealing is on me. The neckline, already wonderful, is now at a depth I find modest-yet-stylish; the armhole depth keeps me covered; and the width and shape of the side seams is just great.
Things about the pattern generally that I wasn’t sure about:
3/8″ seams terrified me. I’m a 5/8″ chick myself. Where’s the room to change things? However, since my changes were all of the make-it-smaller variety, this didn’t end up being an issue, and tbh, it saves all the steps in a Big 4 pattern that say “trim seams.” Also helped the neck and armhole bands to go together like a dream. So, I dunno about that, I guess I’m still on the fence. I like my wiggle room.
The shaped front pattern piece: A tank’s front and back side seams are (usually? in my expereience) both about the same shape, but in this pattern there’s extra shapely-ness at the bust on the front pattern piece. I have no need for an extra shapely bust so I wondered if this was going to make a saggy mess for me, but in the right/wrong size I sewed first, and in the wrong/right size I sewed second, it turned out that ITS was right and I was wrong. The slightly-more-curvy front pattern piece is just right 🙂 to make the tank fit well.
Conclusion: I’ve already added paper where needed and re-drafted that back-shoulder area with more coverage, trying to keep the graceful armhole shape as much as possible, and I will definitely be making this up again, albeit two sizes smaller than my measurements dictate. With patience and modifications, I think I may at last have my go-to tank top pattern!

Hi K, thank you so much for your thorough review! The pattern is designed for light to medium-light weight, 2-way or 4-way knit fabric with 50% to 75% stretch and good recovery. If your fabric has more stretch and less recovery, I would expect the result you experienced. I encourage you to try using the recommended fabric and your result would be different. Jersey with Lycra/spandex would be a good choice.
