Choosing Your Size

  1. Determine your cup size. You can use the cup size you typically wear.
  2. After determining the cup size, compare your bust circumference (fullest part) to the “Body Measurements” table. Using the corresponding row for your cup, choose the size that best fits your bust. If you are between sizes, choose the smaller size if you like your garment more fitted; otherwise, choose the bigger size.
  3. Compare your waist circumference (narrowest part) to the “Body Measurements” table. Choose the size that best fits your waist. If you are between sizes, choose the smaller size if you like your garment more fitted; otherwise, choose the bigger size.
  4. Compare your hip circumference (widest part) to the “Body Measurements” table. Choose the size that best fits your hips. If you are between sizes, choose the smaller size if you like your garment more fitted; otherwise, choose the bigger size.
  5. It’s OK to use different sizes for the bust, waist and hip. All you have to do is print the sizes that you need, and blend the lines from one size to the next. See “Printing Instructions” and “Blend Sizes” in the instructions.
  6. If you are taller than 5’7” (170 cm) or shorter than 5’4” (163 cm), you should consider lengthening or shortening the bodice (see “Lengthen/Shorten” in the instructions), unless you have long/short torso.

I highly recommend that you check your fit by making a test garment with inexpensive fabrics that have similar weight and stretch as your final garment fabrics.

Material

Primary Fabric Use light to medium-light weight woven fabric with or without stretch. Shirting, broadcloth, lightweight denim, chambray, linen and rayon challis are good choices.

Interfacing Use lightweight woven or weft-insertion interfacing.

Other Materials

  • Five (5) 1/2” (1.25 cm) buttons for the shirt or eight (8) 1/2” (1.25 cm) buttons for the dress
  • Additional two (2) 1/2” (1.25 cm) buttons for the long sleeve option

Fabric Requirements

Most natural fibers shrink in the wash; be sure to have enough fabric. The requirements below assume that the fabric is already pre-shrunk. Due to the width of the pattern pieces, it is not recommended to use 45” (115 cm) wide fabric for sizes 14 to 20.
