  1. Gaynor

    Fabulous

  2. sue.crook

Instructions were very clear and after a bit of manipulating, I got the placket and collar finished. I love this top and looking forward to wearing it on holidays later this month. I will be making more of this pattern and encourage you to have a go as well!

  3. Toony

I love my Venado Top! The shawl collar is stinking cute and definitely takes a jersey top to the next level. The instructions are well-written and the illustrations are great for clarification. I’m not super comfortable with sewing knits but I am so happy with how this top has turned out. Thank you for a great pattern!

    For reference:
I am 5’3″ and my measurements are 34-29-39. I blended the sizes from 4 (bust) to 8 (hip). I shortened the bodice by 1.5″ and the sleeves by 3″. The top sits at my full hip.

  4. Susan

I chose this pattern because I like the collar. I haven’t made a shawl collar on a tee- shirt before, so it was a new and interesting experience. The making instructions were very clear with excellent diagrams. I finished the garment yesterday. looking forward to wearing it.

  5. Anonymous

Instructions were very easy to follow and the finished top was perfect.

  6. Lynda

Found the placket quite difficult but love the pattern

  7. Rosanne C.

The design is a great way to make a polo shirt more elevated. Easy to follow instructions.

  8. Debbie

Very nice comfortable top. Love it.

How to choose your size

  1. Determine if you should use the regular bust front pieces or the full-bust front pieces—subtract the circumference of your over bust from the circumference of the fullest part of your bust. If the rounded difference is 3″ (7.5 cm) or less, use regular bust; if it is more than 3" (7.5 cm), use full bust.

  2. Compare your bust circumference (fullest part) to the “Body Measurements” table. Using the corresponding row for your bust (regular bust or full bust), choose the size that best fits your bust. If you are between sizes, choose the smaller size if you like your garment more fitted; otherwise, choose the bigger size.

  3. Compare your waist circumference (narrowest part) to the “Body Measurements” table. Choose the size that best fits your waist. If you are between sizes, choose the smaller size if you like your garment more fitted; otherwise, choose the bigger size.

  4. Compare your hip circumference (widest part) to the “Body Measurements” table. Choose the size that fits your hip best. If you are between sizes, choose the smaller size if you like your garment more fitted; otherwise, choose the bigger size.

  5. It’s OK to use different sizes for the bust, waist and hip. The instructions for blending sizes are included in the pattern.

  6. If you are taller or shorter than 5’6” (168 cm), you should consider lengthening or shortening the garment. The instructions for lengthening or shortening are included in the pattern.
