Material
Primary Fabric Use medium-weight woven fabrics with fluidity, such as blends that include viscose, rayon, bamboo, Lyocell, or Modal.
Interfacing (For the Round Neck option only) Use lightweight fusible woven or weft insertion interfacing.
Other Materials
- For the In-seam Pocket option (an option for the dress only)
3/4 yard (70 cm) of 1/2” (1.25 cm) wide straight fusible stay tape (or cut your own from lightweight woven fusible interfacing on the straight grain)
Fabric Requirements
Most natural fibers shrink in the wash; be sure to have enough fabric. The requirements below assume that the fabric is already pre-shrunk.

How to choose your size
- Determine your cup size—subtract the circumference of your over bust from the circumference of the fullest part of your bust. If the rounded difference is 1″ (2.5 cm), use A cup; 2″ (5 cm), use B cup; 3″ (7.5 cm), use C cup; 4″ (10 cm), use D cup; 5″ (12.5 cm), use DD cup.
- After determining the cup size, compare your bust circumference (fullest part) to the “Body Measurements” table. Using the corresponding row for your cup, choose the size that best fits your bust. If you are between sizes, choose the smaller size if you like your garment more fitted; otherwise, choose the bigger size.
- Compare your waist circumference (narrowest part) to the “Body Measurements” table. Choose the size that best fits your waist. If you are between sizes, choose the smaller size if you like your garment more fitted; otherwise, choose the bigger size.
- Compare your hip circumference (widest part) to the “Body Measurements” table. Choose the size that fits your hip best. If you are between sizes, choose the smaller size if you like your garment more fitted; otherwise, choose the bigger size.
- It’s OK to use different sizes for the bust, waist and hip. The instructions for blending sizes are included in the pattern.
- If you are taller or shorter than 5’6” (168 cm), you should consider lengthening or shortening the garment. The instructions for lengthening or shortening are included in the pattern.

I found this dress came together beautifully and the size was a great fit. The style is perfect for a me as I have a mature figure namely apple shaped! The princess line also suited me.
I only need to add a bit to the length.
I made the cowl neck version in a lovely cotton lawn fabric.
My dress has been much admired and I will make it again in a slightly heavier weight of h fabric got the cooler weather

Wonderful Quick Sew with Flattering Results!
I recently made the sleeveless version of the cowl neck top (inspired by Karina from Lifting Pins and Needles) and was thrilled with how quickly it came together—less than two days from start to finish! This was definitely one of the easier and more enjoyable sewing projects I’ve tackled in 2025.
The pattern features beautifully shaped princess seams that add subtle structure and a flattering fit. I used a lightweight cotton chambray with embroidered edges, and the design really helped showcase the fabric—especially where I placed the embroidery on the front panels and used the plain sections for contrast on the side bodice pieces. I finished the armholes with bias tape for a clean, professional look.
This pattern is a fantastic combination of speed, style, and thoughtful design. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a fast project with a polished result!
