  1. ruthspory

I ended up throwing this pattern and my attempt in the trash. The neckline was just too confusing to me and I am not a beginner sewer. I sewed it on 3 different times and it turned out wrong each time. I always find the directions on these patterns to be skimpy and no color on the instructions can make it difficult to follow. More markings on the patterns might have been nice like hip line bust apex. If Katrina of Lifting Pins and Needles does not produce a video I should just not try to even sew the pattern.

  2. Katrin Lansky

Easy pie, even for me (German)

  3. Eva

It’s a lovely pattern with super clear instructions – I’ve already made two versions and love them both 😊

  4. LeeAnn

Fits like a dream! Made only a swayback and rounded back adjustment to the pattern. Love this dress. I have already made up 2 dresses. So comfortable. I made them up in a beautiful stretch cotton sateen.

  5. Arlette

I have made three Recoleta dresses, sleeveless. The first one in twill, the second in denim and the third in embroidered linen. The first one was meant to be the toile, but the fit was already perfect so I just tinted it to my liking. I wore the two first ones very often all summer long. The linen one looks more formal. I definitely needed the zipper with the size 4D.

  6. Anonymous

Excellent pattern minimal adjustments needed easy to sew together and great fit

  7. Virginia

If there’s anyone who has fallen in with the neckline on this dress but is hesitant to buy the pattern, let’s put it this way. Today I have a raging migraine and I was still able to make a perfect neckline! The directions are the best I’ve ever come across in the decades I’ve been sewing & if you follow them exactly, you’ll produce a stunning collar! All that clipping & ironing is worth it & the V part at the bottom comes out crinkle-free! Kennis Wong has a unique & easy way to sew even the most difficult pattern pieces.

  8. Diane

More information provided on pattern pieces would be helpful such as bust apex, hip line, waistline. There are some small horizontal tick marks but they are not labeled Petite adjustment lines would be nice too

  9. LINDA

Love the ease of sewing this dress pattern!

  10. Kathy

Excellent pattern, explanations are easy to understand, love that pattern testers have included tutorials.

  11. Leslie

This is a great pattern easy to sew. I had it done in 2 days. Highly recommend

  12. Erin

Original download didn’t include all sizes. Customer service was responsive and situation easily fixed.

  13. Rita

Good fit. Good instructions. Pleasure to sew.

  14. Carol

Love this pattern, easy to follow. Fits without having to put in a zip. For me personally I adjusted the bodice length by 1″ to suit me and also the skirt by 2″. Just have to put in the sleeve and done. Looking forward to wearing it

  15. Stephanie

The DD cup bodice fit my friend perfectly!

  22. Madeline

  24. Kerry

This is a lovely dress for the warmer months. Very attractive style and fit. I love Itch to Stitch patterns as they suit me, being short in stature, I find the patterns easy to fit my size.

  25. Deborah

Easy to make, and fit well.

  26. Betty

  27. Addrea

Itch to stitch patterns are perfection!

  28. Anonymous

I love the silhouette and neckline of this dress.
The instructions are easy to follow and thorough.
The only thing that I would love to add, and would knock it out of the park, would be pockets!
I can’t wait to make another version!

  29. Elsa

If you want a dress that has stunning features and is easy to sew, do not hesitate! I did this dress in a vibrant purple brocade and it’s the right dress for a cocktail party. I had absolutely no troubles sewing it and the instructions for blending sizes are awesome.

  30. Anonymous

Beautiful cross season dress with simple lines. Directions are detailed and easy to follow.

  31. Jacquelyn

Couldn’t wait to make this. I am so pleased with the fit! Slight increase to bodice length based on apex height. Fits great!. Used midweight linen. So happy with this!

  32. Claire

Initially I only bought this pattern for the long(er) sleeves pattern piece and the concave darts to insert/hack onto the Chai shirt dress. This worked very well. Have since made the recoleta in its own right and, as is the case with all Itch to Stitch patterns I found it’s well drafted, the instructions are very easy to follow and the inclusion of the different cup sizes is a game changer (when you’re a C-cup size you neither fit into the standard B nor the D-cup that you are sometimes offered. I really, really appreciate ITS going above and beyond).

  33. Mary

Totally love this beautiful structured dress. Beautiful style.
Brilliant instructions. Range of cup sizes. ❤️💕

  34. Carol

    A dress for all!

  35. Susan Wentworth

Seriously, love this pattern. It’s a perfect dress in so many ways.

  36. Betty

    Very easy to sew

  37. renata

LOVE this pattern, it is so flattering on, I could sew it without a zip and it still looks streamline, it works with all beautiful cottons too.

  38. Janet

Absolutely love how this turned out and fits me nicely

  39. Sondra

Love, Love The Recoleta Dress The dress was so easy to put together and the instructions are also easy to follow. If you have not tried any of Itch to Stitch Patterns, you need to. I would recommend them highly. Give it a try.

  40. Vignette

How to choose your size

  1. Determine your cup size—subtract the circumference of your over bust from the circumference of the fullest part of your bust. If the rounded difference is 1″ (2.5 cm), use A cup; 2″ (5 cm), use B cup; 3″ (7.5 cm), use C cup; 4″ (10 cm), use D cup; 5″ (12.5 cm), use DD cup.
  2. After determining the cup size, compare your bust circumference (fullest part) to the “Body Measurements” table. Using the corresponding row for your cup, choose the size that best fits your bust. If you are between sizes, choose the smaller size if you like your garment more fitted; otherwise, choose the bigger size.
  3. Compare your waist circumference (narrowest part) to the “Body Measurements” table. Choose the size that best fits your waist. If you are between sizes, choose the smaller size if you like your garment more fitted; otherwise, choose the bigger size.
  4. Compare your hip circumference (widest part) to the “Body Measurements” table. Choose the size that fits your hip best. If you are between sizes, choose the smaller size if you like your garment more fitted; otherwise, choose the bigger size.
  5. It’s OK to use different sizes for the bust, waist and hip. The instructions for blending sizes are included in the pattern.
  6. If you are taller or shorter than 5’6” (168 cm), you should consider lengthening or shortening the garment. The instructions for lengthening or shortening are included in the pattern.
