Primary Fabric Use a light to medium weight knit fabric with at least 75% vertical and horizontal stretch. Fabric with good drape, such as one with rayon or bamboo content, is ideal. Note that the wrong side of the fabric could peek out below the knot and also in the butterfly sleeve; therefore, use fabric whose wrong side has similar color to the right side.
Most natural fibers shrink in the wash; be sure to have enough fabric. The requirements below assume that the fabric is already pre-shrunk.

I am relatively new to sewing and have just discovered this amazing selection of patterns! The Nottingham top is my first item and I absolutely love it! It went together easily and fits like a dream – I am 5ft 3ins so shortened the bodice slightly and that was all – I didn’t even do a sample!
I bought another couple of patterns and have a long “wish list”!
Colette –
the shirt is very beautiful but it is too long for me ( I am petite)

All of the directions are clear and very well written… so easy to understand and follow.. I appreciate the sizing information and the explanations to assist me in printing.

Très facile à faire.

I’ve made 2 of these and love the pattern. Easy to follow and lovely made up.

I love this pattern…so well explained and I have always been intrigued by the twist. This one is very flattering. Now how about designing on at the neckline. I have a commercial tee I purchased and I just love it…so flattering but I know the quality of the fabric will not stand up. I am currently waiting for it to Bite the Dust and I will take it apart to see if I can make it myself, but Kennis, I know you are the champion of patterns, so think about it.
Thanks.

Easy to understand directions and great fit!

You made my 15 year old super happy!! And she is not always easy to please. She’s into all the knot/twisted tops this year, and I used a lovely bamboo for her shirt. She put it on as soon as it was ready, and left it on! The instructions were perfect – I thought the twist would be complicated but it wasn’t! My only suggestion (and I may have missed this so sorry if this is already in there) would be to let people know their print will be flipped on the one side. Our fabric choice has a repeating super thick « stripe » and part of it is now upside down. It still works because the shirt is a bit slouchy for my teen at that spot, but I can see that really bothering some people and / or looking odd, depending on the fabric detail. It was a small thing for us, but I will keep it in mind for future projects.

Love this pattern! Instructions were easy to follow and it turned out great. Will be making this one again.
Marleen –
It is perfect 😁
Lenore –
Love this!! Thank you for classy styles.

As with all Itch to Stitch patterns, the finished item fit me perfectly with only a few fitting adjustments. I am working on modifying the pattern to accomodate my daughter’s pregnancy and I believe it will be an easy modification.
Mette –
Easy to follow. Nice resault.
Frances –
Love this design. It was well drafted and fits great. The directions for the knot were a little confusing, however. I wound up partially sewing the left extension, then inserting the right extension and completing the front.

I thought the top was very pretty. The instructions we simple and easy to follow. I see several more of these in my future.
Yvonne –
I have made this top twice in two weeks since I bought it. Fabulous fit easy to follow instructions. I Highly recommend it. Lots of compliments also.
Rita –
Well drafted,great fit.

It turned way too baggy on me, both at the back, front and bust area and then too tight on the arms!
Judith –
As usual, a great pattern and superb fit.
Margaret –
Perfect tee for me and I was born in Nottingham!
Kathy Schuller –
A very nice top which came together easily. I found the fabric above the knot bulges a bit but that was mainly because I should have shortened the top a little which I will do next time. Apart from the length the top fits beautifully.

I cannot tell you how much I love this pattern! It looks complicated and yet it is really easy to make a gorgeous comfortable top with Nottingham. The pattern is well drafted with all the markings and clear instructions that take you step by step through sewing that beautiful draped knot front. I grabbed this pattern during release week I believe and have worn my first version so much I am cutting out one for my sister and another for me. It is one of those tops you put on and think “Oh I love this, so cute, so comfortable! I need another” that being said. I was not a tester for this pattern, or compensated in any way for making it. I just love the pattern.
