Snuggle-worthy yet effortlessly elegant, the Newport Top is one garment that you won’t regret making. The Newport’s details are understated, but you surely will not go unnoticed. Use a soft sweater knit for an instant sweater, or use a fluid jersey for a casual tee. Oh, you also get to choose between regular long sleeves and 3/4 flute sleeves. Of course you can always make two tops and try both styles of sleeves.

I highly recommend that you check your fit by making a test garment with inexpensive fabric that has similar weight and stretch as your final garment fabric.
Primary Fabric Use light to medium-weight knit fabric with 20% to 50% stretch as well as great drape and recovery. Sweater knit and jersey are great choices.
Interfacing Use lightweight knit or tricot fusible interfacing.
Most natural fibers shrink in the wash; be sure to have enough fabric. The requirements below assume that the fabric is already pre-shrunk.

I like the neckline for this T-shirt.

The shoulder overlap on this top is a cute detail!

I see lots of possibilities with this one, both casual and dressy. Just looks comfortable without being dowdy. I love Kennis’ patterns for their style without being too trendy. Many seem just right for my sense of style.

First Itch to Stitch pattern, but I’ll definitely be back for more!

This was my first PDF pattern. The download was straightforward. I printed the pattern on 8×10 and taped. The pattern assembly and sewing instructions were clear and easy to follow. The design was great and has a nice flow. I measured to a size 8, but I found this fit to be bigger than I liked. The neckline is unique on this garment and a great feature. Can’t wait to make another one.
