  1. Helen Smitten

I have made three Laon shirts, perfect sizing, elegant style. The tailored fitting looks very flattering. I have used various fabrics, cotton lawn, viscose blend and silk. They all drape beautifully. I am a huge fan of Itch to stitch patterns.

  2. Connie

This is my first Itch to Stitch. I sewed a toile and fit is spot on. Directions were easy to follow and well written. I enjoyed this make and am eager to make more as well as try other patterns from this company.

  3. Jolene

I wanted to complete this new shirt before I commented. As always, the PDF download went smoothly, printing the instructions and pattern tiles was easy, no issues or frustration. I printed only the size I needed with ease.
The construction of the shirt is lovely, very well drafted. The shoulder cap is flawless and fits well. The arm movement is comfortable, not tight or restricted. The neck band was easy. I have many shirt patterns, and unfortunately the results are not always β€œ balanced” or pretty. But the draft and clear instructions and easy to understand diagrams made working with this pattern a breeze, very enjoyable to sew. I liked the rounded cuffs, it harmonized with the fit-flattering princess seams. The length of the shirt is perfect, whether I tuck it in or leave it out. The rounded hem is flattering as well. The added detail on the sleeve placket makes the shirt a cut above. One last thought… the construction of the shirt is mostly β€œinternal”, I only used my serger for the shoulder edges and the side seams, so it made for a lovely appearance inside and out, a big plus.
Really like this pattern. P.S. a person could learn to sew just reading your instruction information. πŸ˜„

  4. Carol

Love that the patterns come in various bust sizes.

  5. cmurphy.va

Love this pattern. I am very curvy. Made a 6DD. Lowered bust point but didn’t have to make any other changes. I used a seersucker with embroidered ladybugs. So cute for spring. I can’t wait to make more versions of this beautifully shaped shirt.

  6. Anonymous

This is very similar to the plus sized ladies shirts Brooks Brothers quit making about 15 years ago. Love it πŸ’•

  7. barbara

very comfortable and doesn’t gape at the bust.

  8. Symantha

    Lovely pattern

  9. Betty

I have found this pattern easy to sew and the directions are clear. Full disclosure, I’m only halfway through the project at the moment. I’m very hopeful that it will be a go-to whenever I need a new blouse.

  10. Melanie

I was looking for a princess seam shirt pattern. Finally found it in this beautiful design. It’s an easy shirt to make with clear instructions. Highly recommended.

  11. deborah

This is an absolutely beautiful pattern that is well fitting and just very easy to sew. I have really enjoyed making this pattern.

  12. Anonymous

A little confusing with drawings at times with the collar and stand

  13. Elizaeth

Sizing was spot on and the instructions comprehensive. The shirt fits beautifully, and the sleeve length is just right!
I also love the pdf file with layers, avoids confusion between sizes. It’s so easy to put together – especially with the cover sheet showing the layout of the pieces.

Wow!!! I made it using a white cotton fabric and it turned out nice and I’m a beginner at sewing. The first shirt I’ve ever made. I’ve only made two simple summer dresses recently. The only change I made to give myself a bit more ease room was to sew a smaller SA on the two sides. Next time I will make it a size up. I love the slim fitting design. It’s a classic dress shirt I will make over and over again in various colors/fabrics. I can’t believe that as a beginner, using the pattern’s instructions (and watching some Lifting Pins and Needles YouTube videos), I was able to sew a standing collar, collar, set in sleeves, sleeve placket, sleeve cuffs, back yoke, buttonholes, hemming a curved hem and body hugging princess seams. The pattern and instructions were that good. I bought Itch to Stitch’s Acari trench coat. I will make that in the near future (a toile first). It’ll be a challenge for me, I’ll learn lots and it’ll be loads of fun. I read lots of good reviews about Itch to Stitch’s patterns so I figured I’ll learn lots from using Kennis’ patterns/instructions.

  15. Ann

Laon is a very stylish shirt, I love the princess seams to make tweaking the fit so much easier!

How to choose your size

  1. Determine your cup sizeβ€”subtract the circumference of your over bust from the circumference of the fullest part of your bust. If the rounded difference is 1β€³ (2.5 cm), use A cup; 2β€³ (5 cm), use B cup; 3β€³ (7.5 cm), use C cup; 4β€³ (10 cm), use D cup; 5β€³ (12.5 cm), use DD cup.
  2. After determining the cup size, compare your bust circumference (fullest part) to the β€œBody Measurements” table. Using the corresponding row for your cup, choose the size that best fits your bust. If you are between sizes, choose the smaller size if you like your garment more fitted; otherwise, choose the bigger size.
  3. Compare your waist circumference (narrowest part) to the β€œBody Measurements” table. Choose the size that best fits your waist. If you are between sizes, choose the smaller size if you like your garment more fitted; otherwise, choose the bigger size.
  4. Compare your hip circumference (widest part) to the β€œBody Measurements” table. Choose the size that fits your hip best. If you are between sizes, choose the smaller size if you like your garment more fitted; otherwise, choose the bigger size.
  5. It’s OK to use different sizes for the bust, waist and hip. The instructions for blending sizes are included in the pattern.
  6. If you are taller or shorter than 5’6” (168 cm), you should consider lengthening or shortening the garment. The instructions for lengthening or shortening are included in the pattern.
