Love this top, I’ve made it twice now, I love the neck
line, it reminds me of something out of the 50’s.

  13. Lynda

Cute top. A bit too much fabric on the front of my 8D attempt. I am going to try an 8c next.

  14. Vanessa

  17. angie

Again, all I had to do with this pattern is shorten the sleeves and body. Very comfortable. Made it out of a light weight ponte.

  18. Laura

I made the Gothenburg in a bamboo/cotton french terry and the funnel neck had just a nice bit of drape. Love the cup options and wonderful instructions!

  19. Janice

    Beautiful pattern as always!

  20. Brigetta

Super easy sew with great results. I’m planning on making many more for winter (just waiting for the more weighty fabrics to arrive).

  21. Gay

  22. Barbara

The Gothenberg top is simplicity at its best. The simple lines hold great style detail. This top is a modern spin on a classic 60’s style. Based on the fabric you choose this can either be a cozy comfy casual top or a more work worthy wardrobe piece. The basic sewing lines make this a great beginner project yet should not be overlooked by the experienced sewer. It is a quick sew that can be traced, cut and sewn in an afternoon then worn to dinner in the evening. For a more sporty look add the thumb cuff from the Uvita top add on pattern and make out of an athletic weight fleece or wicking knit.

  24. Joy

    Great warm top !

  25. Barbara

Thank you for the easy pattern. I’m so glad you have a link to Karina Trinidad. She gave me confidence to your pattern.

  26. Mary

I did a hack and added princess seams front and back. Yes I would definitely use this pattern again.

  27. remediosgallego

I’ve two tops so far. The first one with a thick fleece and the second with a striped french terry. Both look great.

In this pattern the lines of the drawing go beyond the margins, that’s so great for using “Assemble PDF patterns, the quick way” that Kennis showed us in her post.

It’s a wonderful pattern that is quick and easy to make. I love it.

  28. rloharris

The cup sizing is a game changer and I love the great fit all over, the neckline is classy and it’s a great pattern to showcase bold prints or chic stripes. It was an enjoyable project to sew (I used a normal sewing machine). I made mine in cotton jersey but I plan to make the next in a floral scuba!

  29. auschick

This was a quick and easy sew for me! The most time consuming thing was deciding on which fabric to use! I ended up using a nylon ponte. Next time I’d prefer to use a sweater knit – maybe a cozy French terry or something. I’ve written more about this project on my blog.

Material

Primary Fabric Medium weight structured knit fabric with 25-35% stretch. Structured fabric is essential so that the funnel neck can stand up and not flop down. Examples are ponte, micro fleece, quilted jersey, ottoman rib and scuba.

Other Materials

  • 11” (28 cm) of 3/8” or 1/2” (1 cm or 1.25 cm)-wide straight fusible stay tape (or cut your own using lightweight woven fusible interfacing on the straight grain)

Fabric Requirements

Most natural fibers shrink in the wash; be sure to have enough fabric. The requirements below assume that the fabric is already pre-shrunk.

How to choose your size

  1. Determine your cup sizeβ€”subtract the circumference of your over bust from the circumference of the fullest part of your bust. If the rounded difference is 1β€³ (2.5 cm), use A cup; 2β€³ (5 cm), use B cup; 3β€³ (7.5 cm), use C cup; 4β€³ (10 cm), use D cup; 5β€³ (12.5 cm), use DD cup.
  2. After determining the cup size, compare your bust circumference (fullest part) to the β€œBody Measurements” table. Using the corresponding row for your cup, choose the size that best fits your bust. If you are between sizes, choose the smaller size if you like your garment more fitted; otherwise, choose the bigger size.
  3. Compare your waist circumference (narrowest part) to the β€œBody Measurements” table. Choose the size that best fits your waist. If you are between sizes, choose the smaller size if you like your garment more fitted; otherwise, choose the bigger size.
  4. Compare your hip circumference (widest part) to the β€œBody Measurements” table. Choose the size that fits your hip best. If you are between sizes, choose the smaller size if you like your garment more fitted; otherwise, choose the bigger size.
  5. It’s OK to use different sizes for the bust, waist and hip. The instructions for blending sizes are included in the pattern.
  6. If you are taller or shorter than 5’6” (168 cm), you should consider lengthening or shortening the garment. The instructions for lengthening or shortening are included in the pattern.
