  1. Nadia

Another smashing hit! I just finished sewing the Comillas dress and absolutely love it! I was twirling around so happy with my make πŸ™‚

Thank you for making such high quality patterns where I KNOW the final garment will look exactly like the photo. I sew a lot but the garments I wear the most are all Itch to Stitch patterns. I would like to give five stars for the printing layout as well – I chose to print the letter size sheets since I was so anxious to sew as quickly as possible. Unlike other pattern companies I didn’t have to print 60+ pages (I am looking at you Simplicity) – your layout was so thoughtful that I only printed 21 pages for a 3 tier dress.

This is probably my favorite pattern after the Mountain View jeans (I am in the process of sewing my fifth pair of those).

I added 1cm length to the bodice so the elastic casing is under my bra (super comfortable that way). And while it was a bit fussy the 3 elastic casings are cute and extremely comfortable to wear. I made the 3 tier skirt but adjusted the ruffle lengths a bit since my fabric had gorgeous embroidery that I didn’t want to cut off.

I plan to sew several more Comillas dresses!

Great pattern, great fit, thank you!

  3. Cynthia

I love my Comillas! This pattern is fabulous, came together perfectly and fits beautifully.

  4. Jacquelyn

I loved making this dress! The instructions were well written. The dress itself went together beautifully and surprisingly quickly . I chose to make the two tiered version in a linen cotton blend. I used an embroidery function on my sewing machine on the front bodice plackets and on the lower aspect of the two tiers to personalize the dress and I love the way this looks. I’ve already got plans to make it again in a print this time. Another great design Kennis!

  5. Bridgit

Love this! Very flattering so far with very little altering needed except my usual FBA

  6. Kathleen

Such a lovely design! And Kennis creates such excellent instructions.

  7. debbie

I was very good and made a test garment of the 2 tiered version with some polyester crepe fabric, and it went really well. Excellent fit, and really looked good, and whilst the fabric would not be my 1st choice, i will be taking it on holiday as it is a very wearable toille.

For my 2nd attempt, I am making the full 3 tiers, and using a viscose fabric, and have lengthened the top bodice by 1″, just for a tiny bit more ease, I am 5ft 71/2, so taller than the pattern is drafted for, other than that, I am making the pattern as is.

I absolutely love the 3 channels of elastic around the bodice, and whilst its fiddly, its does really look good, and is so comfortable, i did toy with the idea of using 1 wide strip of elastic, but think it would be less comfortable than the 6mm elastic strands.

really happy with this pattern, and can see myself using it over and over again,

  8. Susan

Absolutely thrilled with this pattern. I made my dress in a batik rayon in a size 14 with the full bust option after making a muslin in both the full bust and regular bust options bc my measurements are right at the dividing line between full and regular bust sizing. The step by step instructions are excellent, and the result is a very attractive dress for women of any age. I will make this dress again. It didn’t take long to sew either. Happy customer. πŸ™‚

Nice dress with a nice fit

  10. Becka

I made this over the weekend, wore it today and got so many comments! I used a light weight block printed cotton fabric. I chose the shorter version and it fit so beautifully I didn’t have to make a single alteration. I am already planning to make another. I actually love that the ruffles are subtle (low volume); I was afraid it would look a little too juvenile but they are just perfect.

How to choose your size

  1. Determine if you should use the regular bust front pieces or the full-bust front piecesβ€”subtract the circumference of your over bust from the circumference of the fullest part of your bust. If the rounded difference is 3β€³ (7.5 cm) or less, use regular bust; if it is more than 3" (7.5 cm), use full bust.

  2. Compare your bust circumference (fullest part) to the β€œBody Measurements” table. Using the corresponding row for your bust (regular bust or full bust), choose the size that best fits your bust. If you are between sizes, choose the smaller size if you like your garment more fitted; otherwise, choose the bigger size.

  3. Compare your waist circumference (narrowest part) to the β€œBody Measurements” table. Choose the size that best fits your waist. If you are between sizes, choose the smaller size if you like your garment more fitted; otherwise, choose the bigger size.

  4. Compare your hip circumference (widest part) to the β€œBody Measurements” table. Choose the size that fits your hip best. If you are between sizes, choose the smaller size if you like your garment more fitted; otherwise, choose the bigger size.

  5. It’s OK to use different sizes for the bust, waist and hip. The instructions for blending sizes are included in the pattern.

  6. If you are taller or shorter than 5’6” (168 cm), you should consider lengthening or shortening the garment. The instructions for lengthening or shortening are included in the pattern.
