Chirripo Top PDF Sewing Pattern Finished Garment Measurements

Choosing Your Size

  1. Determine your cup size—subtract the circumference of your over bust from the circumference of the fullest part of your bust. If the rounded difference is 1″ (2.5 cm), use A cup; 2″ (5 cm), use B cup; 3″ (7.5 cm), use C cup; 4″ (10 cm), use D cup; 5″ (12.5 cm), use DD cup.
  2. After determining the cup size, compare your bust circumference (fullest part) to the “Body Measurements” table. Using the corresponding row for your cup, choose the size that best fits your bust. If you are between sizes, choose the smaller size if you like your garment more fitted; otherwise, choose the bigger size.
  3. Compare your hip circumference (widest part) to the “Body Measurements” table. Choose the size that fits your hip best. If you are in between sizes, choose the smaller size.
  4. It’s OK to use different sizes for the bust and hip. See instructions for details.
  5. You don’t need to consider the size for the waist. If you are using the same size for the bust and for the hip, just use the same size for the waist. If you are blending sizes between the bust and the hip, gradually blend in between for the waist.
  6. If you are taller or shorter than 5’6” (168 cm), you should consider lengthening or shortening the top. See instructions for details.

I highly recommend that you check your fit by making a test garment with inexpensive fabric that has similar weight and drape as your final garment fabric.

Primary Fabric Use lightweight woven fabric without stretch or with minimal stretch.

Interfacing Use lightweight woven or weft-insertion interfacing.

Other Material

  • 32" (82 cm) of 3/8" or 1/2" (1 cm or 1.25 cm)-wide straight fusible stay tape (or you may cut your own using lightweight woven fusible interfacing on the straight grain)

Fabric Requirements

Most natural fibers shrink in the wash; be sure to have enough fabric. The requirements below assume that the fabric is already pre-shrunk.

    I love this pattern!

  2. Miranda (verified owner)

I consider myself a beginner and was a little nervous about trying an intermediate level pattern. The directions were great and the links to the video tutorials were very helpful. I’m really happy with the end result and am looking forward to picking my next project and learning new techniques!

This top has a really nice fit and it doesn’t look baggy at all (which I was afraid of). I really like the shape of the underarms.

    fun pattern to sew

  5. Anonymous (verified owner)

Easy sew, however the sizing wasn’t quite correct for me I need to go down a size. Love this shirt even with the bit of gaping at the chest. (Hopefully it fits my Mom better ?).

So cute and easy to sew up. I like that there is a sleeve option.
