  1. Kadri

I was just wondering about my Amador top – I saw that my first one is starting to get out of shape and wondered that I’m wearing it so often. I like the V-neck, I love the gathers and the easy to wear dolman sleeves.

  2. Sue

    Loved this top

  3. rina

Easy to sew, great to wear. πŸ’œ

  5. April

    Perfect summer top!

  6. Anonymous

Good pattern clearly states 5 foot 6 and I’m 5 foot 8 so I added one inch above bust in recommended area and worked really well.

I find the instructions for this pattern to be very complicated. There is also one pattern piece that isn’t shown in laying out the pattern onto the fabric.

    • Kennis Wong

Could you tell me which piece is not on the layout diagrams? There are 5 pattern pieces in total for this pattern and all five are on the two diagrams (they are numbered and I see numbers 1 to 5 are on the diagrams.) Thank you.

  8. Anonymous

Great fit easy instructions. Love the pattern

  9. Marion

Way to much ease in the bust area . Looked like a sack on me. Maybe I should have graded it further.

  10. Heather

Such a great pattern! I made a size 14 graded to 16 for hips (per my measurements), but next time will probably make a straight 14. This is a classy top that dresses up or down to suit any outfit. Thorough instructions and was easy to make with just enough challenge for my novice skills. I sewed it up in one evening. I’ve not yet had a fail when sewing up an ITS pattern! Thank you Kennis!

I like the pattern. Found the instructions clear and easy to follow. Unfortunately the first garment I made was a little big but the next size down was good. Will be making more Amador tops

  17. Jo-Anne

This top is so sweet! Not complicated and works up quickly. Love, love it!

  18. Charlotte

Lovely pattern. Very manageable for a not particularly skilled sewist: will be making more. Really like the possibilities for playing around with striped and geometric patterned fabrics.

  19. Patricia

Love your patterns. The fit is always spot on.

  20. Elly

    Very good

  21. Brigetta

I absolutely love this top. I have made 2 already. The first one out of a lightweight liberty knit and the second one I used a slighty thicker rib knit. On this one I added the long cuffs from the Sibiu Top.

Material

Primary Fabric Use light to medium-weight knit fabric with about 50% horizontal stretch and great recovery such as athletic knit, ITY, double-brushed poly and cotton Lyrca. Do not use drapey fabric with poor recovery such as rayon spandex (unless it has a minimum of 8-10% elastane).

Other Materials

  • 2 yards or 2 meters of 3/8” or 1/2” (1 cm or 1.25 cm)-wide straight fusible stay tape (or you may cut your own using light-weight woven fusible interfacing on the straight grain)

Fabric Requirements

Most natural fibers shrink in the wash; be sure to have enough fabric. The requirements below assume that the fabric is already pre-shrunk.

How to choose your size

  1. Determine if you should use the regular bust front pieces or the full-bust front piecesβ€”subtract the circumference of your over bust from the circumference of the fullest part of your bust. If the rounded difference is 3β€³ (7.5 cm) or less, use regular bust; if it is more than 3" (7.5 cm), use full bust.

  2. Compare your bust circumference (fullest part) to the β€œBody Measurements” table. Using the corresponding row for your bust (regular bust or full bust), choose the size that best fits your bust. If you are between sizes, choose the smaller size if you like your garment more fitted; otherwise, choose the bigger size.

  3. Compare your waist circumference (narrowest part) to the β€œBody Measurements” table. Choose the size that best fits your waist. If you are between sizes, choose the smaller size if you like your garment more fitted; otherwise, choose the bigger size.

  4. Compare your hip circumference (widest part) to the β€œBody Measurements” table. Choose the size that fits your hip best. If you are between sizes, choose the smaller size if you like your garment more fitted; otherwise, choose the bigger size.

  5. It’s OK to use different sizes for the bust, waist and hip. The instructions for blending sizes are included in the pattern.

  6. If you are taller or shorter than 5’6” (168 cm), you should consider lengthening or shortening the garment. The instructions for lengthening or shortening are included in the pattern.
