New Pattern Release: Irazu Skirt
Looking for a skirt that’s as versatile and flattering as it is fun to sew? Meet the Irazu Skirt, the latest PDF sewing pattern from Itch to Stitch!

The Irazu Skirt is designed to sit at the narrowest part of your waist and flare gently below for a classic, feminine silhouette. It features front and back yokes with soft gathers underneath, offering both structure and ease. Whether you’re going for casual or elevated, Irazu has the style and options to fit right into your wardrobe.

With an invisible side zipper and elastic discreetly sewn into the back waist seam, the Irazu is designed for comfort without compromising on polish. It also includes optional inseam pockets for everyday practicality.

I made a ruffled version in a sienna-and-black viscose, and a knee-length version in khaki Tencel—and I absolutely love how both of them move as I walk, especially when there’s a breeze. The swish and flow of the fabric really bring the design to life!

I’m intrigued with the concept of inseam pocketS, as at least one of the testers seems to have done. What isn’t clear is how your left pocket works with the invisible zipper in the seam. I’m anxious to try such a configuration. Thanks.
It’s so satisfying to have a side zipper and an in-seam pocket—it’s a clever combo! Only a few of us truly appreciate how intriguing that is. 😉
Hi, I like look of the skirt but I would have appreciated the actual skirt lengths for just an average size, as I think the skirt is too short for me and midi is too long… it would just help working out what in one’s stash could be used for an intermediate length.
I do enjoy your patterns , especially the different cup sizes for tops and dresses.
You can just cut off the amount you need from the midi. That’s how the knee length is. You can decide how long you want it to be.
I’m horrible with zippers due to severe arthritis in my hands. Do you think that I could squeeze into the skirt with just the elastic in back? I’m a size 2.
I’m afraid you won’t be able to. The elastic in the back is just giving a tiny bit of give for comfort. It can’t stretch over the hip.
Greetings,
You can adapt the back to make it an elastic waist back – measure what you need to be able to get the skirt over your hips. Add that to the back width of the skirt (you will end up with a rectangle looking piece.) Create a coordinating waistband piece and sew adding the elastic piece and eliminating the zipper. It will change the look in the back but you will keep you pockets and front of the skirt and overall skirt look.
The other option is an adaptive clothing method where you add a gusset where the zipper would be and then extend the waist for a velcro or magnetic snap application.
Happy sewing!
Look at that pretty and flattering curved yoke! So much better than just straight across. Plus, not too many gathers. I’m definitely getting this pattern. Perfect for hot humid summers
I have much difficultly getting pattern printed and I would like every one of your patterns printed out with the attached directions. Thanks
Thanks for your comment. At this time, I only offer digital PDF patterns and don’t provide printed versions. You can either print the pattern at home or take the A0 file to a print shop. Let me know if you need help with the process!
