Material

Primary Fabric Use medium-weight knit fabric with 10% to 25% stretch as well as great drape and recovery. Sweater knit and jersey are great choices. Choose a size smaller if your fabric has more than 25% stretch.

Contrast Fabric Optionally, you can use a contrast fabric for the waistband and band. Choose a fabric similar in weight and stretch as the primary fabric. A contrast fabric is not necessary if you want to use only one fabric for the garment.

Interfacing Four (4) pieces of 2" x 2" (5 cm x 5 cm) lightweight knit or tricot fusible interfacing if a button is used. No pattern pieces are available.

Other Materials

  • 12" (30 cm) of 3/8" or 1/2" (1 cm or 1.25 cm)-wide straight fusible stay tape (or you may cut your own using light-weight woven fusible interfacing on the straight grain)
  • One (1) 1" (2.5 cm) button (optional)

Fabric Requirements

Most natural fibers shrink in the wash; be sure to have enough fabric. The requirements below assume that the fabric is already pre-shrunk.

  1. Jami

I consider myself a beginner leaning to intermediate sewer and found this pattern easy to follow. I think the fabric I chose was a little too lightweight and caused some issues, but the final result is amazing! My husband even said it looked like something I might have purchased off the store rack! Improvements? I am a visual learner and would have loved some videos or actual photos at some of the steps.

  2. Anonymous

Very flattering design for my shape.

  3. Colleen

Lovely pattern. Plenty long to cover my bum but with a nice nipped in waistline. Easy construction with good instructions. i made from a black, heavyweight ribbed knit.

  4. Isabella

    It’s okay

Great pattern, easy to sew, and the finished garment looks great

  6. Ana

Another classic: the lovely style of this pattern has such grace & elegance, paired with jeans for a day wear look, & or on an evening out made in a beautiful shimmer fabric. Clear instuctions.

  7. Torun

Very flattering cardigan, that manages to give me the illusion of a wait. It is also easier to construct tan it looks. The instructions are very clear and everything matches up perfectly.

  8. reinagreen

Another excellent well-drafted pattern with very clear instructions from Itch-to-Stitch. The style with its fitted waist is very flattering as the pattern description promises. I love the way the back looks. The sleeves are also nice and long (I actually shortened them by an inch). The neck and shoulders fit very well and the wider-than-usual front band brings a touch of class. The cardigan looks good both open and buttoned up. Made mine in a lightweight pale-grey jersey knit and it looks great with jeans. I think it would also work really well with a pencil skirt. It’s the kind of piece you can dress up or down and in my climate (Canada) just the sort of cosy staple you want in your closet.
